i still like matt roth i know everyone is saying that he is not impressive.. but what should /do we expect from him i mean is he big enough for his position and i heard somone comment that "he wasnt right for our deffense"... the more knowledgable peolpe give me some light.. i really like this guys additude plus he sounds like the guy Saban wants:confused:

Who is saying he's not impressive? He was an excellent pick and he will be an excellent DE long term.

We all love Matt Roth.

Not everyone is saying he is unimpressive.

That was only one man's opinion on a newspaper blog. To me, his opinion is no more valuable than Ozzy's, Nasty's or Dolphins2005+'s.

All these guys see camp through their own eyes, and from other reports, I've heard that Matt Roth has looked good.

His short arms...I don't know, I think he needs to learn how to shed blockers better. But for him to remind someone of Kumerow is not a nice thought. Maybe the way Bruschi was a phenomenal DE at Arizona and with the "desert swarm" defense...maybe Roth will be tried more at LB????

He will be very good if not excellent by the mid-point of this season. Saban picked him very high, have faith.

Doesn't Roth have a ton of experience going against Gallery? That guy has long arms!?!?! I think Roth will learn better technique as the weeks go by.... I hope

dude has a great motor, that means alot in this game, he will learn some more techniques and be an animal. plus, he will rarely see a double team with JT on the other side.

One guy gives a bad opinion and we shouldn't jumped off the ship. Since the draft Roth has been the one guy most of us have been pumped to have been added. We need his fire! When is the last time we had some attitude like that? I'd say since Bryan Cox days.

Short arms - Can't shed a blocker - HECK it's the start of camp!! Are you kidding me?? This guy has to not only learn this D but survive 95 degrees and humidity in pads that would melt most people. This is new to him. You can't teach the intensity and non stop motor and drive he has. This guy will be a stud in this league. He is set up perfectly to play situationally around pro bowl talent all year. I'd take a line of Roth, Carter, Trayor, and JT any day. Roth will be a rotate guy I'm sure all year as he learns his way around. I can't wait for him to get in someone's face during a game. This D has had talent but now hopefully they will have attitude!!

thats what i wanted to hear thanx.. he the one im most excited about...........:rawk:  DAMN LET THE SEASON BEGIN ALREADY

Don't be too quick to give up on him. Everyone progresses at a different rate.
Why just a few weeks ago, so many posters here were ready to give up on Vickerson based on a couple of negative articles, with comments like: oh well he's only a 7th rounder.
Now that the pads are on, we've been hearing many glowing reports on Vickerson from Ozzy and others. Anyone want to discount this 7th rounder now? Nor should anyone when it comes to Roth.

i completely agree, except there was just a little thing in there, about surviving florida's heat, he practiced in iowa, beleive it or not the summers get SCORCHING:eek: , and depending on where you live ungodly humid, if players get used to the weather that the midwest throws at them with 100+ degree weather in the summer and -20 degree weather in the fall and winter they become ready to face most weather complications they will have in other states.

He's still rough around the edges, as should be expected because he's just a rookie. Like someone pointed out about a week ago, he needs to learn different moves to put on a lineman and needs to learn the defense well before we can expect him to come in and be the dominating DE I think he will be.
