I will bet you dinner at Landry's that Nick's plan is for Lemon to be the QB of the future. I can see us either sticking with Gus or going after a younger QB in FA next year. But I'll bet Lemon stays. Nick would rather give up his left leg than a draft pick, for him to give up a pick to get Lemon tells me what he thinks of him.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves

We did give up a pick but it was a 6th rounder, and AJ was a cap move also

I would love to see lemon get a chance but I wouldnt read to far into it

Hope you are right, but I think giving up the 6th was to get rid of Feeley more than to pick up Lemon. I also hope Alabi comes in as our future LT.

They could have gotten rid of Feeley for free.. They could have just cut him.

Doubtful... this was a cutting of loses move... nothing more. Lemon will at best be a backup.

then you get nothing and dont have a 3rd QB

at least you have a 6th round pick.

Its not like we got anything for him anyway, unless lemon pans out.. Otherwise, we just lost a 6th round pick.

he obviously saw something in him. If he wanted feeley gone he would just of cut him.

I dont think we would have given up a pick if we didnt like somthing about him.

I would at least like to see him play before I make any assumptions, A couple SD fans posted on here after the trade saying he was good, but I still want to see it for myself.

I haven't heard any bad things about Cleo from fans. If he was a terrible player they woulda pointed and laughed at us for takin him. Instead we pointed and laughd at them for taking a $3mil bench warmer. Cleo should get a start vs Tennessee, cause Sage is dreadful.

I believe Lemon is the simply the result of Randy Meuller's tireless search for any and every QB who can either start for the team or be traded for something worthwhile. That's Mueller's track record -- he once had Aaron Brooks, Marc Bulger, Jeff Blake, and Jake Delhomme on the same roster. The fact that he convinced Saban to give up a 6th rounder for Lemon says that they believe he can be a starter in that mold.

I think Saban views ALL draft picks as being for potential starters, not role players, and I think he uses his late-round picks for diamond-in-the-rough guys like Vickerson and Alabi, who can become starters with good coaching and further development and experience. So that's where Lemon is IMO.
