I think we should have hired marino as a QB coach, instead of giving him a desk job that he hated he would be able to turn sage into payton if we hired him as a QB coach and then there would be 2 great players wearing 18:tongue::)

I could swear Marino said he did not have the temperment to be a coach

what he had could not be taught..........

Marino would NOT want to be a QB coach.

Sage into Payton? How the hell could Marino do that? He cant throw the ball for him. Geeez :shakeno:

Yea, he's even said so himself. He said that if he could bottle his technique, he would in a heartbeat, but it simply isn't possible.

Often times, the great players don't make the best coaches. The greats often have 2 things that can't be coached (a God given talent, an incredible work ethic) and expect that their players have the same. A lot of times, it'll be the Jay Fiedlers of the world that had to learn every trick in the book just to be average that would be the best coaches as they have a lot of insight on improvement to pass on.

I agree with both of those statements.

why would he be a qb coach when he makes more money and works alot less on tv. also, no stress, doenst have to worry about someone else getting his credit, he is better off where he is.

Marino has never been interested in coaching.

He has expressed some interest in participating as a part owner of the Dolphins and we may see that one day.

In the meanwhile he has a very cushy job as a sportscaster .

those who can do, those who cant teach. marino could so he didnt have to teach. this is not ment for all ppl such as school teachers thats what they wanted to do, so they can.

Hard to hire a guy who doesn't want the job. I also agree with those who posted what he had can't be taught. And being a great player doesn't necessarily make you a great coach.

If Marino wanted the job he would have had it. He's happy where he's at right now.

It would go something like this:

Wayne gives Dan $25 million to coach the Qb's.

Week 1: Dan coaches QB's
Week 2: Dan coaches QB's
Week 3: Dan coaches QB's
Week 4: Dan starts.

he may not be able to teach sage completely but he'd probably be able to give some good pointers like stance work, help improve his accuracy and timing) it just to bad he didn't want to coach
