After watching the Miami-Ga Tech game tonight, I have decided this is the guy I want for the Phins. I was a HUGE fan of his already and he seemed to be all over the field tonight. His athleticism is second to none and he would be a terror off the edge next to either Roth or Porter next year.

My only concern is that we won't be picking high enough to select him but I wouldn't be against trading one of our 2nds to move high enough to pick him up. Especially if we can trade Porter in the offseason for a 2nd rounder or so, it would totally be worth it, because this guy is going to be SPECIAL.

Thoughts!?

I love trading off one of our best players.

We have too many needs to be trading away picks.

I say keep what we have, and fill the holes. Sintim is going to be special as well.

You better believe it! By the way, Bow. Weren't you the one that said Gholston was going to be a total stud in the NFL?

Wow. Very naive to be judging him after only a half a season. But you're probably one of the people that was saying Ginn was a bust already after last year. And obviously I didn't know if he was going to be a total stud in the NFL, but I had a feeling he would be very good yes. Let's wait, there's still TONS of time. I hope though for our sake I was wrong.

ok,ummmm..why would you want to trade one of our best defensive players...i think LB is going to be our 1st rd pick, quite possibly OLB,so why not draft that guy and let him learn from Porter...something to think about maybe...eh..ehh..ehhh....

I was actually at this game last night. We (canesport.com) were all discussing the impact he would have on the game because our best offensive lineman was coming off of an injury from the Virginia game. One of our posters actually broke down film of Micheal Johnson and predicted that if one of our quarterbacks were to throw the ball to the left side of the field on a certain hitch route that Micheal Johnson would intercept the ball and probably score on the interception.

Sure enough, this happened last night and we were never in the game.

Micheal Johnson is an amazing player indeed. His stock is fast rising and unless we pretty much lose out, we are not getting this kid. I agree, I would absolutely love to have that kid on our team but it will not happen unless a trade is involved or unless we start losing games. To play devil's advocate, I will say that Micheal Johnson did in fact abuse an injured Jason Fox, who even when healthy, is only an average offensive lineman. Jason Fox really was not ready to return to the field but without Jason Fox, I hate to think what he would have done to us. We would probably have two injured quarterbacks this morning if not for a 70% Jason Fox who did everything he could to at least slow Micheal Johnson down.

Johnson's speed and athleticism is second to none on the defensive side of the ball. He's a smart player and appears to be a guy that a team can rally behind. He has a Reggie White kind of appeal to him from what I've seen of him this year and I'm a guy who watches a lot of ACC football. I think Micheal Johnson is clearly out of reach. It may not appear that way at the moment but when the combine begins, Johnson will let it be known that he is one of the more elite players in all of college football.

I think you may be right. James Farrior didn't do that much with the Jets but lit it up with the Steelers. Gholston is still learning the 3-4 OLB position with two solid players in Calvin Pace and Bryan Thomas in front of him. He could very well rebound like crazy. Lets just hope that, like Farrior, it's with another team (hopefully not in the AFC East unless it's us).

Well, if Porter is going to continue playing at this ELITE level for another 3-4 years, then I say keep him. I'm just saying, that his ceiling will never be higher, and for a player that appeared to be on the downside of his career, not to mention the injury concerns before the season. Hell, some people questioned whether he would ever play AGAIN. Supposedly he had some back issues that were bothering him during training camp that were supposed to hinder his season and possibly end his career. I see no lingering effets now, but what if it flares up again this offseason?

I'm just saying. He's a great player now, but he's not our future and probably won't be with us any longer than 2 more years AT THE MOST. Let's see what's out there.

isn't it amazing how prospects look better against the U than most their other competition?

Yeah, you can get that crap out of your head right now. Micheal Johnson looked amazing indeed but how did Tim "Superman" Tebow look against those baby 'Canes? How did Brandon Tate of North Carolina look against Miami? The ACC is the most competitive conference of all the major conferences. Micheal Johson has easily been the best play on the field against every opponent. It was nothing to do withe Playng the U.

Nicheal Johnson is the realy deal. He can't be contained.

I've watched every UM game this year. We've played some prospects and they didn't do much. against the U Johnson had that 1 pick 6, 1 tackle, and 2 pass break ups. I watched the game and noticed him twice. Who's your college team?
