The state of the passing game is out of control. I know the casual fans want to see these high flying offenses and huge scores put up on the board, but it is so unfair to defenses. They have been so handicapped over the years and now with the emphasis to protect the quarterback, these huge numbers are being put up.

It used to be that putting up a 300 yard game was a real accomplishment, now it barely passes for being a above average game. What would the Elways, Marinos, etc. put up nowadays.

These are just the early games today of those who put up 300 +

Andy Dalton 337 3 TD
Matt Ryan 419 3 TD
Mitchell Trubisky 354 6 TD
Matt Stafford 307 2 TD
Carson Wentz 348 2 TD
Marcus Mariota 344 2 TD
DeShaun Watson 375 2 TD
Andrew Luck 464 4 TD
Blake Bortles 388 2 TD
Kirk Cousins 422 3 TD
Jared Goff 465 5 TD

and still 5 more games being played

I know this is not going to change, but with the rate the NFL is modifying the rules to make the game " safer" how are defenses ever going to adjust ?

This doesn’t really have anything do with Miami...unless you say something like and yet we never see Tannehill on these lists.

It has everything to do with Miami. Unless we evolve with the rest of the league, we will never reach the promise land. I'm a Tannehill supporter, but can't even comment on today. We failed in every facet of the game today.

At this point I don’t even think it’s lack of talent as the problem for Miami. It’s coaching and schemes. They both suck.

Ryan with a wonderful 100 yards today. Awful and even behind guys like Rosen and Allen.

I've accepted he's a franchise QB in the sense that he'll keep us relatively competitive but his ceiling is around Alex Smith level. If you said that to the general NFL fan base they'd laugh at you because the average NFL fan thinks Tannehill is **** and Smith is far more proven. I think in order for us to be truly successful we need to build a team like the Chiefs did around Alex Smith. Which I think is as equally hard as finding an elite to upper NFL QB (Those that can put their teams on their back every now and then).

He’s a franchise QB in the sense that he will lead you to 8-8 seasons. We need more. A lot more. Really it’s just waiting until Brady and BB retire. Nothing matters until then bc they cannot be beaten by the AFCE.

It feels like limbo to be honest. We are waiting on external factors to proceed forward as usual for us fin fans.

This is what the NFL wants... lots of scoring/offense, and to protect their high profile players.
