I want to start off with the "million dollar talent, 10 cent head" thing that's become popular with him. Okay, you don't throw 24 TDs to 8 INTs in a season with a "10 cent head". People see the backwards pass and they automatically just write him off despite the over 130 career TDs he already has.

He's had one bad season in New Orleans, with 13 INTs and 17 INTs. Compare that to a guy like Jake Plummer in Arizona, who had talent but people questioned his decision making... he had a season with 9 TDs and 24 INTs, that makes Brooks by far his worst season 13 TDs 17 INTs look great. Look at Plummer now. I do want to throw in that the Saints actually lead the NFL in drops in Brooks bad season, dropping about 13 percent of Brooks on target passes.

Before this season, which was just an all around nightmare, Brooks record with the Saints was at least over .500, and his rating was over 80. The guy gets no respect because he played for the Saints. He'll have a 3 TD, 1 INT game and sure enough ESPN will only show the pick. The guy can do everything. Scramble, throw on the run and across his body, hit people down the middle of the field with bullets in motion, he just needs a defense that won't force him to score 30 points a game, like the one in New Orleans made him.

Here's a little streaming highlight video of Brooks coutesy of SaintsRays of SaintReport.com

And please, if you don't have any constructive criticism, don't post here. I hate actually trying to make a point just to hear "oh, well, Brooks suck" and no explanation.

I've seen him play when I went down to Mississippi and Louisiana to see my Dad and grandparents. He definitely has talent. I am in no way writing him off. It can't hurt to have him come in and work out. Especially if we can't get a QB through the draft this year. It'd be good to see someone like him and Gus go at it for a year. If Aaron did do well, he's not young, but he isn't old either. Everyone deserves a second chance, I will say that much.

You have to wonder how Brooks is doing mentally after all the years playing for losing teams in New Orleans. I think he definitely has the skills, and with the right team he could be great. I have nothing against him, but I think we can do better.

It wasn't "all those losing seasons". It was a playoff win in 2000, 7-9 in 2001, 9-7 in 2002, back to back 8-8 records in in 2003-2004, then this one really bad year, 3-13. People seem to think Brooks was leading them to 3-13 records every year but he did have a winning record before this year.

I’m with you. Unlike most of the members on this board, I am very intrigued with Brooks. I think he would give of the most bang for the buck. Mueller is very familiar with Brooks, so I think it is a good possibility that he may sign with us. That is if Mueller thinks he would be a good fit. Remember our new “OC†has done very well with QB’s that have made poor decisions in the past.

I'd take Brooks. Under Saban and Mularkey, he may finally be able to realize his full potential. He has a potential huge upside.

I think Brooks would be a great fit for the team. He has a cannon for an arm that is actually accurate as opposed to Gus. I'm tired about hearing about his decision making, such things can be coached (e.g. Jake Plummer). Brooks would be an immediate upgrade over Frerotte.

I think Brooks makes the big mistakes that lose games sometimes from what I've seen. I do however, think hes an upgrade over Gus. Gus might not make the pick 6 but he can't win games with his arm. Brooks can have a 400yd game with 4tds when the running game doesnt work. Gus would be lucky to break 200yds.
It depends on what Mueller and Saban think, Id trust them on this one. Brooks has the talent. If Mularky can get good seasons out of a guy like Maddox (he was oCoordinator with him too? not sure on that), and develop a young guy like Ben, who knows, it could be a really good situation.
