with NE signing Stallworth, Washington and Welker...we better look at our secondary in the draft or ***ency. Washington and Stallworth are burners and our secondary was a problem last year.

I think we are all thinking the same thing...Besides being burned long, could you imagine how many third and shorts Wes will catch? This guy will lead in league in third down receptions for sure!
 
I am really not worried about Washington, he's never done anything up to this point, Im not even sure if he makes the team.

Stallworth and Brady however could be a scary combo, the only time Brady has ever had speed to throw to was Bethel Johnson, and he was nowhere near Stallworth's talent level. Check his name on the pro bowl ballot now.

I don't know how we improve our secondary at this point, I don't want to use a first rounder on Landry and there's nobody left in free agency worth picking up other than Ken Hamlin, who I can't believe we haven't even had for a visit.

My ideal secondary next year would be:

LCB: Andre Goodman/Renaldo Hill
LS: Jason Allen
RS: Ken Hamlin
RCB: Will Allen/Travis Daniels

I can see us drafting a S in the early rounds of the draft, and moving Jason Allen to CB. Also, with the addition of Porter our secondary benefits greatly. He can fall into coverage. Now, we only need a shutdown CB.
 
The only thing our secondary did terrible last year was not catching the ball. They dropped more interceptions than they caught.

If the scheme is simplified and with another year of playing together, the communication should be better. That would eliminate a majority of the 3rd down problems they had last year.

You don't finish in the Top 5 in passing defense just by the front 4 getting to the QB. Green Bay had almost as many sacks (46) as we did but finished 17th in passing defense. They did have 23 INTs and that is the one thing we desperately need to improve on after finishing with 8.

Great observation! I never considered that. I hope the FO takes your advice.
 
I think we need to beef up our Offense first, then our secondary. If we cant score we cant win!!!
 
Although we do not have a shutdown secondary, we are not THAT bad off. We have a high top tier front seven and with the addition of the blitzing porter, this will hide the deficiencies in the secondary. I do believe we still need one great corner on this roster, but, with the signing of Porter and our front seven being as good as they are, this will indefinately give our secondary some much needed help

I agree, but we have to become our team and play our game. We cant let NE dictate how we play. So you can feel better, in order for those players to make plays downfield, the QB needs time. Brady will not get much time in the pocket this year. NE will also have a hard time running the ball. So if we know they are going to pass, it makes the secondary a little better. Lets force them to play our game.
