How many first round top ten Quaterbacks in the past 10 years have become franchise Qb. I love the fact how everybody is saying we passed on a franchise quaterback who would have lead are team for the next 10 years. Can I borrow your cyrstal ball to get the lottery numbers.I was just as shocked by all of you when we took Ginn I was disappointed.Than logic took over who is to say that Ginn wont be productive for the fins and Beck wont turn into a franchise quaterback.I wiill wait on the sidelines and reserve judgement till we see what these guys are capable of.We addressed Qb WR Ol and RB give Randy and Cam a break maybe they might know a little more than what the masses want or maybe there are the second coming of Wands and Speilmen.Only time will tell so chill out gang

Very solid post. I think we were ALL surprised. That doesnt mean you have to be disappointed when you think about this LOGICALLY.

I know for me, it took time, but I soon saw the potential of this draft class.. and its still not over. Look beyond the Quinn = Peyton Manning dreams, and realize that we finally added some young talent on offense.

Ginn was a stupid pick there is atleast 4 recievers better than him

the positivity is growing,,,,the minority is growing

Last 10 years: Manning, McNabb, Culpepper (maybe in MN?), C Pennington, Vick, Carson Palmer, Leftwich, Grossman (not really, but he got to a SB), Eli (franchise, but not a good one), Phil Rivers (we'll see), Big Ben, Alex Smith (off to a decent start), and Young and Leinart are looking good.

now, there are just as many busts, but that's partly because they ended up on crap teams to begin with. I imagine some of the busts had the talent to succeed had they not been drafted by awful teams (Tim Couch comes to mind).

Brady is used to making do with not a whole lot around him (so-so WRs and awful OL). And he's got a ringing endorsement from the man who MADE Tom Brady a HOFer. Brady spend several years playing against tough competition (well, sometimes) in a pro-style offense. I really fear that Beck is a product of BYU's offensive style (Coy Detmer anyone?). And I'd rather see a high pick spent on someone who will impact the game more consistently (EVERY PLAY) than a 2nd/3rd WR and Special Teams guy.

But no, nobody knows yet. Except me, I hopped in my DeLorean and checked out the future. I won't tell you how it turns out, otherwise it would ruin the surprise.

he was a stupid pick why?????????please do tell we are all very intrigued???????????

For argument's sake: Calvin Johnson (obvious), Dwayne Bowe, Robert Meachem, and (from Ginn's own team) Anthony Gonzalez. All are better RECEIVERS (key word) than Ted Ginn Jr. Obviously not as fast (except CJ who's faster) or versatile, but better at wide-out.

KOY DETMER didn't play for BYU, he played for Colorado.

c'mon, give us a peek, it shouldn't alter the future (much):bighug:

Cj is not faster than ginn, ginn ran almost the same 40 time on a bum foot and in the rain. Gonzalez wouldn;t have been the same receiver without ginn demanding safety help every play, just look at the BCS game (while i know the whole team sucks) he vanished in the game when ginn went down after the opening kickoff

Every one of the scouts agree, Ginn is faster than CJ. He didn't get to run at the combine.

Strengths:
Ted Ginn Jr. has one quality NFL scouts can not get enough of and what NFL Franchises love to build around: Speed. Ginn Jr. is the fastest WR in the 2007 NFL Draft, and is a legit home run threat for any NFL team to utilize. Ginn should provide an instant boost in the return game, similar to 2006 rookie, Devin Hester. Entering the collegiate ranks, Ginn Jr. was the #2 high school player in the country behind fellow 2007 prospect RB Adrian Peterson, so the unique thing to consider when looking at Ted Ginn Jr. as a prospect is to remember that he has been the best player in EVERY game he has ever played in, in the high school ranks, or in college. The reason to consider this little tidbit of information is that I think in the NFL Ginn Jr. will come to realize quickly that he is not going to be the most talented player in every game, and that will make him strive to succeed, work hard, and improve his game to the point that he is viewed as a fine complete NFL wide receiver.

I suppose you guys think Ginn is faster than Randy Moss, who ran a couple 4.28s last week? Numbers speak for themselves...

Ginn has potential to be faster, but from what I've seen, he don't move so fast in that boot.

Gonzalez is most certainly a better Receiver if only because he doesn't drop the ball, has a higher YPC than the "home run threat", and can get himself open without designed plays (Ginn needs plays schemed for him to get the ball). Last season, when T.Smith was in trouble, he went to Gonzalez, not Ginn. That says a whole lot about Ginn as a receiver.

Oh, and Gonzalez also had a higher punt return average than Ginn, but that's probably a fluke based on attempts... But the fact that he had more rushing yards on fewer carries makes you wonder about Ginn's game-breaking ability.

i got this from another thread

We all had it wrong here. Just when I got through writing Brady Quinn's name next to Miami, they took Ted Ginn Jr.! They kept this one quiet, maybe too quiet. Sometimes it is a good idea to let the fans know there are some other options when you pick, but the danger in doing that at the ninth pick, is you might tip other teams on who you are interested in. Now to Ginn. He's the second-fastest player I have ever scouted -- the fastest being Darrell Green, who was the fastest player in my 30 years in the NFL.
