Ichiro's new deal. (amazing)

I think the more amazing part is it running until 2032 or whatever it is with money being defered and paid after he retires w/ interest.
 
This reminds me of the deal that Steve Young got when he was in the USFL.....he was given a 40 year contract....each year he gets $1 million as part of the deal, even though the league folded long ago. But Ichiro's deal is way sweeter. Talk about a great pension plan. :)
 
I like this a lot, I am not gonna lie...
first of all, he only gets 1 new car total, not 1 per year...
For the team this isn't bad b/c they aren't paying for the car. Most if not all teams have that one heavy car sponsor, through advertising. That company gives the team the car b/c they want the team's athletes to drive their car.
Win win for everyone..

second of all this leaves more money for the Mariners to spend on free agents and extensions and such. They now have an extra 5.5 million a year to spend, or as the article states, to invest that into future revenue.

And Ichiro will collect a nice paycheck until the year 2034, which has to feel good. I bet he is really sad that he is only making 12 million per now...
 
He has recieved a house allowance since his last contract, it was just increased a few thousand with the new contract. He also was always recieving airline tickets for his family from day 1. If the Mariners are willing to do all this for Ichiro, imagine how much they are making off him. He deserves anything he asks for cause if they give it to him, it proves he is worth it.
 
good for Ichiro. He has plenty of money, but at least this guarantees that he will not blow through all his money and be selling his memorabilia on ebay a decade from now.
