There have been reports that Virginia LB Ahmad Brooks has failed a drug test and won't be with the team this spring. Brooks was once thought to be a future Top 5 overall pick but has seen his stock slip dramatically due to injuries and he might now be looking towards the Supplemental Draft

i think saban should take a look a this kid he plays in a 3-4 system so he would know alot about our D

I dont know much about the kid, but I know as with anything, if the price is right I am all in favor of taking another project... he would come with a cheap salary figure and Saban should be able to handle any baggage that Brooks might bring with him as long as the kid is willing to work hard all the time... we took Manny in the supp. draft and look at what most of us are thinking of him now (just see the "Was Manny Worth It" thread)...bring him on...

I just wish we knew more about what his deal was. If I remember corectly he missed some time last year and I dont beleive it was ever revealed why. I think we can take it for granted though that if he does enter the suplemental that Saban and Mueller will find every scrap of info on him that they can. Its really nice to have a front office that is truly always looking to upgrade our roster whether its through the draft, the suplemental draft, of the midseason FA scrap pile.

I would love to see Ahmad Brooks on the Dolphins to pair with Crowder and Thomas.

If he is really as talented as people say, I hope we get him. Im not sure what round in the suplemental Saban would see fit to get a headcase though.

His weight ballooned, his work ethic is questions, he was found with a couple bag s of MJ in his car... but his talent is undeniable and Saban could definitely straighten him out. I would use a third (depending how this cap thing works out; more draft picks during this -a capped- year would be better), but he'd probably be gone by then.

As great as his talent may be (I personally have no knowledge of how good he is), I still would not go any higher for a player that already is showing maturity problems then a 4th, if we lose out, then we get someone else next year.

Besides, I think Saban will have a LB drafted in this draft to take over the large hole left by Seau. Bobby Carpenter has the size Saban wants (6'3 255) with 4.5 speed (and might even fall to the 2nd round).

I'd spend a 3rd rounder to bag him, he's an incredible 3-4 ILB. He's much better than his teammate Kai Pahrman who might be a 2nd or 3rd rounder. (if he has a good pre-draft) Zach Thomas is going to be 33 next year... How much longer is he going to play at the level he does? Draft an awesome replacement.

It's on the main page here:

Height / Weight:
6-4 / 249lbs. (other reports have him at 259lbs.)

estimated 40-time: 4.55 range

that wouldn't bother me, but jason cole of the miami herald insists that we have interest in brodie croyle as a second. both are possibilities.

i don't think that bothers nick as much as we want to believe. after all, he asked ricky williams back, and he invested a 5th round pick in Manny Wright (a "kid" in every sense of the word). balance the investment and payoff factors and i think you could easily see a 5th and a 4th is a possibility.

it would seem nick believes he can straighten out just about any player.

Brooks would be worth risking a third easily but we should evaluate and background him to death.

Lets see what actually comes about thru FA and the regular draft first...this is way too early to be worried about the supplemental draft....
