if barkley and jones would have entered the draft this year would you still have gone with tannehill?
i dont get to watch a lot of ncaa football and would value your feedback:D

So Indy would still get Luck, and Washington/Cleveland would have drafted Barkley/RG3, then yes we would still end up drafting Tannehill imo. The only thing that changes is Cleveland drafts a QB with the 4th pick instead of the 23rd.

Would have came down to Jones or Tannehill and i still think they would have taken tannehill

IMO, STL would have stood pat and flipped Bradford if they could have taken Barkley; Cleveland would have grabbed RG3, no doubt about that and Washington would have snapped up T-Hill leaving Landry Jones for us.

Or if StL still stuck with Bradford (typical bullheaded Fisher), Cleveland would have grabbed Barkley, Washington T-Hill if they didn't trade up with MN to leapfrog Cleveland for Barkley.. and again either Jones to us or we take the LB from BC and then trade up for Weeden.

I think someone would have jumped ahead of us to get Barkley, so it would have been Jones vs Tannehill. I think we would have traded back to the mid-teens where I suspect they would both still be available. I think we would have taken Jones, but it's hard to say since he didn't do any pre-draft workouts.

In this particular Draft if he came out, Matt Barkley and Ryan Tannehill would have been in a tough battle for draft position. I think Matt Barkley could have won that battle, but it's all very team specific so you really don't know. I said before he stayed in school that this process was set to be unkind to a JUNIOR Matt Barkley, because he wouldn't get the opportunity to show his stuff at any All Star games, and every time he suited up at Combine and pro day settings the teams would be reminded that he's not big or physically imposing, and doesn't have an elite natural arm. But then, with Tannehill breaking his foot, he also did not have the opportunity to show anything...so that's a tough call. If Cleveland passed on QBs at #4 because they liked Weeden at #22...then Tannehill might have gone above Barkley just because of all the stuff Miami had in place at #8 overall that made Tannehill the guy, between Philbin and Sherman.

I don't believe Landry Jones would have been in the same mix as those two. He's a talented prospect and he would have probably dusted the second tier of competition after Weeden (we're talking Osweiler, Wilson, Cousins, etc). However, I think comparisons between Tannehill and Jones would have been easy for teams to decide because Tannehill has the better pocket presence and better mobility. Those would have been the deciding factors.

well with that said im so glad we got tannehill

That is the same as saying what if Luck would have come out last year would he be a Panther or would they have taken Newton. I like how this years draft fell to us and excited about Tannehill

Based on the Philbin/Sherman connection and Ireland's comments about Tanny, I think they would have probably traded back and gotten Tanny later in the round. I think the Washington trade would not have happened, but still that Luck, RG3 and Barkley would have been the first three off the board...

Miami would still end up with Tannehill. Colts go with Luck, Washington would still have traded, and taken Barkley, Cleveland would have passed on QB or maybe taken RG3....either way, I personally believe Miami would have still ended up with Tannehill.

:imho: RG3 has to obviously be thought of as a more ready product, but Tannehill's ceiling is going to end up making him the better QB, he already has better sense for the pass-rush, is a much more consistant QB in the Redzone (Including being rediculously good in goal to go), and has a much quicker release. Give Tannehill a bit more experience, and people are going to be very happy Miami took him.

If you don't think he could be better then RG3, I suggest you watch the highlights of the Texas A&M/Baylor game....and while watching, remember who had the better talent around him.

For anybody to say that Tannehill is anywhere near the prospect of a Barkley is ridiculous, and those people are clearly seeing the world thru aqua and orange colored glasses. Right now, Barkley is the best college prospect going into the 2012 season, Tannehill was never considered anywhere near that elite status by anyone... Except for apparently one guy, Mr. Ireland. Barkley is basically better than Tannehill in every single capacity except for athleticism (last time I checked Tom Brady was not a very mobile guy) and in arm strength, but it's not like Barkley has a weak arm at all.

If Matt Barkley came out this year, the absolute furthest he would have fallen is #4 to Cleveland. The chances are that many teams would have liked him better than RG3 because of Barkley's experience in an NFL offense, and both the Rams and Vikings would have pulled in huge hauls for those players at #2 and #3.
Put it like this : Hypothetically, if Barkley came out and we chose to stand pat with Tannehill instead of trading up to #3 for Barkley or RG3 (we would probably have to give up one less 1st rounder than Washington did for RG3) that probably would have been the final straw for me as a Fish fan. Barkley IMO is a cut under Luck and a cut above Stafford as a prospect. Love the kid, and it wouldn't be tragic at all if we went 2-14 this year, had a fire sale and finally drafted a real QB. In today's NFL, you don't have a QB, you don't have ****.

I think that Tannehill still would have been the pick. Barkley would have gone to Cleveland at 4 and that leaves it between Jones and Tannehill. The latter having the mobility that Ireland covets while the former is more of a pocket passer
