all the talk is about how daunte looks like he'll be ready to go week 1. sure, if wk 1 was like mini camp and there was no threat of being hit, there is no doubt in my mind he would start.

but how good does everyone feel about daunte getting up after he takes his first sack? obviously, anytime a QB gets hit there is a threat of serious injury, but will c-pep's knee be to the point that it could withstand the same hit a healthy knee could? i think that's the question, and i don't think we want to find out vs a blitz happy D like pitt.

its a risk we are going to have to take, yea im going to be worried his first time he gets hit but its eventually going to happen and holding out on daunte playing could hurt us as a team.....if something bad happens we have joey to the rescue so as of now its really a risk we are going to have to be willing to take if we want to do something special next year.....that said there is still a few months until thet season and more practices and rehabilitation for daunte so he should be in much better health as the season comes closer, hopefully though our oline will pick it up and protect daunte from getting hurt

It depends where he gets hit at. I just was looking at the latest issue of SI, and they had Carson Palmer on the cover, and showed what he went through after Kimo von Ohlhauffen rolled over on his knee. Rehab is a really long and hard process. Hopefully the officials (and NFL) will come down hard on any guys who are going for QB's knees. I just hope DC will throw it away rather than taking a sack until he is 100%, but he also can not play in fear of being sacked....it is going to happen sooner or later.

The carson hit changed the rule book, it's almost as if you can touch the QB once the ball is thrown..so hopefully our OL gives him time..but to be knocked down time after time..I don't know...a bit risky..

So if he's sacked in week 2? what's the difference?

same as if he is sacked in wk 3 4 5 etc....every week that goes by his knee will get stronger. if he doesnt start the season it is unlikely imo that he will play in wk 2. they would probably keep him out for the first 4-5 weeks.

well if Pitt can do what they did to that insane O-line in Indy, then you can expect Daunte to atleast get knocked around a little. If DC isn't hit week 1 people will already be starting the Dolphins bandwagon LOL. I've been thinking that it's possible Daunte misses this game only. Week 2 is like 10 days later in Dolphins stadium vs. either the titans, bills, or texans im not sure.

:shakeno:
And what if a completely healthy QB gets hit on the knee?

Everyone said how Randall Cunningham would get killed outside the pocket.

When did his career essentially end?

In the pocket.

Risks of the game.

Of course everyone's concerned.

I'd feel good about him getting up....It's the not getting up...Any week that I'm worried about.

I have faith that the docs, DC and, Nick will determine the right time for him to play.

There is not a quarterback in the NFL that has "healthy" knees, what they consider healthy we would go to the doctor for. That aside, as long as it is not a direct shoulder to the side of the knee he should be fine.

your what they call a sapo in spanish

if he's wearing a brace he's probably safer than other qbs from that injury.

100% right. This is the exact reason why not to start him week 1. hell this is the reason why not to start him till week 5. Another month is all the better for injuries. Get him in one or two snaps a game but don't let him start.

Hell, let's hold him out until next year to be really sure. You never know.:rolleyes2
