I know most people here want Cutler but he could be gone by the time we pick.If that's the case look for us to go defence or LT....there're 2 or 3 LT's that will be there when we pick like Jones, Winston and we'd have to look at QB later on.2 guys that haven't be mention much are Olsen and Betts...both have good sizes and can trow the ball.Betts is intersting in that can has a great arm which Linehan would love and can trow on the run too.Olsen's stats are very good and he doesn't have all the talent around him that Leinart has.Anyway, I just wanted to see what some of you guys think about those 2 and would you guys be ok with either of them. Also, what round could we get either of them at? I'm think 3rd or 4th?

Olson seems to be establishing a career pattern of blowing farts when it comes to a big game on the national stage...worse than Simms or Manning or anyone else who got accused of the same. High expectations just do not sit well with him. Otherwise he was a highly recruited guy, pretty talented, seems like a good guy off the field, but he may have just been victimizing the fact that the Pac-10 doesn't play defense.

As far as lower round guys go, I like Jacobs, Croyle, and Hackney. Maybe Barrick Nealy too.

I'd take Omar Jacobs of Bowling Green if Cutler is gone.

If Cutler is gone I think we go defense with our top pick. This is a great LB class and Ryans or Greenway could be there. My next favorite would be Michael Huff. As far as second teir QBs I would go after Croyle, Clemmons, Whitehurst, or Piengar. Or a developmental project like McNeal or Jacobs. I'm really hoping Cutler is there though and I still think he will be.

I'm not sure McNeil really projects as a QB.

I think a happy medium type of guy between what Saban likes and what Linehan likes would be Croyle. He's got the arm to satisfy Linehan, the intangibles to satisfy Saban.

I like Betts and Olsen as 5th round prospects, but if Saban doesn't pick a QB before the 5th round, unless he addresses it in free agency, I will be furious.:fire:

If Cutler is gone, wait and steal Croyle in the third.

Oh since somehow intellects such as Scott Linehan, Nick Saban, and Randy Meuller all have no idea what they're doing?

Im not sure. I think Cutler will be available when we draft, but is he 1st round worthy? It seems all the mock drafts are saying that he will not go 1st round.

To some people, it seems that way.

Alex Smith was not even close to the 1st overall pick at this point. So much depends on Vince Young declaring and other factors.

I've been on the Croyle bandwagon for a while now. From what little I've seen of him, Hackney looks like a decent prospect as well. I'm still on the fence with Olsen.
