and had them both easily.

- Trade down from #19 and then take Ja'wuan James, take the extra third. That's Trai Turner right there.

- Stay put at #81 and take Billy Turner there, don't trade the 116th pick to move up to #67. Trai Turner is a very talented, very athletic pure OG who has plenty of experience at OG, would have loved to have him on board. Billy Turner? Good to have him aboard. Billy Turner and Trai Turner? Freaking awesome additions to a depleted OG unit. And between the two Turners I would have chosen Trai, if for no other reason that we already got our Guards in Albert and James, and while Billy Turner is projected to Guard, Trai Turner is a pure Guard, and a darned good one at that. Just an excellent prospect, one of my favorites of the draft.

- That #116 pick would have gotten us WR Martavis Bryant, a great talent and another deep threat for the WR unit. There at our traded #116 pick, gone by our #125 pick. Hickey, if you absolutely had to trade a 4th to secure Billy Turner, which I wouldn't have done in the first place, couldn't you have AT LEAST traded the #125 pick, not #116. Lousy trading.

For all the wheeling and dealing, down in the 2nd rd and trading up in the 3rd, we lost 9 crucial spots in the fourth round and gained a 5th rd pick. Yipee. At first glance I'm ok with this draft, nothing special but it looks to have filled needs, but in my opinion Hickey is not much of a wheeler and dealer or trader of picks. Poor showing in that regard, and that left me deflated. Trai Turner and Martavis Bryant are outstanding prospects that could have easily been Miami Dolphins if Hickey played his hand better, his trading skills didn't strike me as very special at all.

if he was a better trader we could have had Clowney *shrug* we all wanted a trade down but it is what it is

As for your pick i doubt they were ever going to play 3 rookie linemen anyway and we have more than enough receivers already

i have been as critical as anyone for not trading down. It's over there in nothing to be done over it. I hope Hickey learns from it thats all we can do.

I agree about the non-trade in the 1st and the trade up for 116th pick.. Those were horrible moves...

Could have had:

27 - Ja'Wuan James
63 - Jarvis Landry
81 - Billy Turner
91 - Trai Turner
116 - Ka'Deem Carey
125 - Walt Aikens

smfh

And if I had only chosen 6 different numbers I'd be a powerball winner. Hindsight is 20/20.

?? He isn't talking about hidsight, he is talking about foresight. These are things we all saw DURING the draft not afterwards.

Well then, apparently in this case my foresight is just as good as your hindsite, because my targeted player was still on the board at #116 after the trade, and that was Martavis Bryant. The layup 3rd rd pick in the offered #19 trade down could have been used on, as I suspected, Trai Turner. This isn't esoteric stuff, these were layups that weren't hard to spot. To clarify even more, it bothered me overnight before round 4 what player/players might be available at #116 that wouldn't be there at #125, and the one that got away imo was Martavis Bryant. I suspected before the draft that he would be a pick in rounds 2-3.

Who would you rather have, Billy Turner or Trai Turner and Martavis Bryant? I'll take the pure Guard Trai Turner and Martavis Bryant all day, everyday over the OT projected to OG Billy Turner, not even close.

We need solid OL depth, Trai Turner would have had a legitimate shot to start at OG, Martavis Bryant is an uber talented WR that would have brought tremendous speed and size to the WR corps and us drafting Matt Hazel shoots your "more than enough receivers" theory out the window anyway.

What if he lost James to another team? I would be killing him for it today. Plus, he was right that a late one/early two run on linemen occurred.

Nobody was going to take that kid in the 1st besides us :rolleyes2:

He would have been taken early 2nd.

When was the first time that you posted of wanting to take Ju'Wuan James in the first round? Was it a while back or in the last two weeks or so right before the draft, after Barry Jackson and others broke the news of the Diolphins rating James as a first round pick.

I've seen no evidence that James was such a hot commodity that there was a good chance that he'd be gone by #27. If you want to look at it that way, fine. James is indeed a good fit, but we're not talking Zack Martin here. If Zack Martin is available at #19 you say domo arigato, take him and count your lucky stars. JuWuan James-we shoudl have take the 3rd rd pick, bottom line, just my opinion.

I wish we would have traded down and i think James would have dropped.

But...

I am happy that we drafted the #1 RT in the draft. And our line looks much better today then it did a week ago. If we had a good line last year, we were easily a 11-12 win team. We almost made the playoffs with our QB getting 0 pass protection and our running backs getting hit before they get the ball.

We had a very safe draft i think. And Landry has a ton of upside. WR we took in the 6th must have some talent as well. This was a deep WR draft, glad we took two, just hope Matthews remains on the squad.

It's disgraceful he did not trade down. Two suitors looking to move up and give a 3rd, browns and Saints.

I got no issue with James, but nobody would have taken him before 27 and if they did, Sua'Filo, Bitonio, Kouandijio and even Morgan Moses would still have been there. Massively deep draft and a 3rd would have been a massive pick up.

I also like James a lot and I think he starts day 1, but the value wasn't there... I guess if he comes out looking great then it won't matter in the long run, but still man... Could have had another 3rd rounder in there... A gem maybe.

He was the #1 rated RT. He will be a solid starter in the NFL. Whether he has a 2nd round grade or a first round grade... HE was a huge need and he instantly makes our line much better (i hope) . We then got two studs with our 2nd and 3rd round pick. So it all evens out. We needed line help... And we addressed it.

Nobody knows if James would have lasted another 8 picks. I think he may have, but there is also a good chance he may not have. Im sure Hickey and the fins waited to the last second to put the pick in, because im sure they debated for a few rounds what they were going to do. And ultimately they decided to grab their guy and not take the risk. And i think it was the right thing to do.
