IF Dolphins win out, should Saban get Coach of the Year?

I'm known to be optimistic about most things but honestly. If he wins all the rest of his games and goes to the playoffs then yes. If he doesnt then no.

Right now it's gotta be Sean Payton, but if the Dolphins make the playoffs or win out, then I think Nick Saban has a legit shot at it. I give Nick two shots at it, winning out or playoffs. We can still win out and miss the postseason. We still need help.

I would say Sean Payton or Eric Mangini.

Eric Mangini, I forgot about him. Being he's a member of the @#$#Jets, I won't consider him:evil: The only good thing about the $%#$Jets, will, I can't think of anything:D

No way, if sabans MO ends up being do crappy at the start (3-7, 1-6) and then finish strong, I don't think he gets coach of the year, I think he gets coach of the second half. We gotta start off stong and finish stong before he'll get any kinds of awards

If he finishes 10-6 they make the playoffs, so yes he has to get it. How could you not give it to him for the biggest turnaround in NFL history? I wouldn't call that his MO just yet. I think he'll fix that problem.

no. the bottom line is that is shouldnt come down to a 9 game win streak for this team to make the playoffs. we should have been in the hunt for a 11 or 12 win season imo

Even if we win out, we still need help to make the playoffs.
Out of the other names listed on here so far, (Sean Payton, and Eric Mangini), Nick Saban does have a chance.

Payton and Nolan would be the top 2, IMO. With the way the 49er's and Saints have been playing lately, I'd say Nolan's chances are looking better and better.

Maybe with all the roster moves this past offseason, we overlooked the fact that our number one QB is still recovering, and that we replaced our entire DB core. On paper we might have overrated what we really have. Maybe since we got a "name" QB, the hype went thru the roof. I don't know, but that's my opinion.

I don't really see Nolan as getting it. Saban has done the exact same thing as him. They started out 2-5, and have won 3 straight to make it to 5-5. Saban started out 1-6 and have won 4 straight to make it to 5-6.

If the Dolphins win out, which is the origional question, then the Niners would have to win out as well for Nolan to have any possible chance at consideration.

As for Payton, if the Saints miss the playoffs and the Dolphins win out, Saban should be the obvious pick.

In no way should Saban ever be considered for coach of the year. He failed to get the team prepared this offseason. We're in one of the worst divisions in the league and had the easiest schedule to start the season that I can remember. We weren't just playing poorly, we couldn't execute anything properly. That's poor coaching. It took him forever to make the personnel moves on D to get us where we are at in the 2ndary and he had to have a huge say in our O-coordinator who has struggled wherever he's been.

I don't care if we win the Superbowl, he's not coach of the year. We didn't have to be even 1/2 as good as we are now to beat most of the teams we lost to at the beginning of the season. That's how god awful we were.

There is a huge difference though. Nolan inherited a far worse team. He's got them overperforming significantly. Our defense has probably overperformed a bit the last two weeks but the offense has underperformed the entire season except against Detroit which has the worst pass defense completion percentage in NFL history.

Do I think Nolan should get it? Probably not. Mangini does more with less than anyone I've ever seen and no one thought the Saints would be .500 this year let alone winning.
