My best friend is a die hard Saints fan and while we were hanging out today we got to talking about the state of both of our teams. My buddy is under the impression that the Saints are either looking to trade Bree s this off season or might out right cut him because of cap issues and going into ultimate rebuild mode. I don't know if that's accurate or not but nevertheless it got me thinking about Brees coming over to the Dolphins. With us supposed to pursue Sean Payton, I think it would be a match made in heaven to get Brees in a Dolphins uniform for his remaining years in the league...

I don't want to turn this into an anti-Tannehill thread but naturally he's going to be discussed because he's out current QB. I think Drew Brees has a few good years left in him. He's still quite effective over there in New Orleans and I think our weapons are ALOT better than the Saints. I would love to bring Brees in to finish his career in Miami, draft his replacement and let him learn behind one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game. My question is if Drew Brees becomes available would you like for the Dolphins to pick him up by trading Tannehill to the Saints? Would you be interested only if he gets cut? Or no not at all? Please don't Call me and idiot or talk **** about the thread, it's a hypothetical and I'm curious to hear what you guys think

But I think Culpepper is still available

Sorry OP. Good question actually. I'd take Brees hoping the third time is a charm. We've had two chances to get him already and passed.
I like Ryan but Brees is special.

I think if we upgraded the line like we're definitely going to this off-season and brought Brees over this offense would be special. Can you imagine Brees with Jarvis Landry? He already has Kenny Stills who he's familiar with. I would definitely restructure Cameron with Brees because he would be dangerous with someone like Drew to take advantage of his talent. I think Parker would benefit the most from having a hall of famer throwing the ball to him... The running game would get a significant boost because you're not putting 8 in the box with a surgeon like Brees back there operating
This would be a SPECIAL offense. Drew would make us a legitimate playoff contender without a doubt... Also, whoever we drafted to groom behind Drew would have the benefit of learning behind one of the best to ever play the game. It would be an exciting time to be a Dolphins fan, no doubt about it.

Would I want him with the Dolphins? Hell yeah.
But it is a question of price. How much money does he want (even if he is cut)? And in a trade? Maybe.
If Brees would come to us even without a trade it would spell Tannehill's end in Miami. I doubt that he would beat Brees out as the starter and considering that Brees probably would require a significant penny Tannehill would end up on the trading block. But if I am the Dolphins and I could get my hand on someone like Brees I would pull the trigger. He still got a couple good years ahead of him.

Absolutely man... A guy like Drew Brees brings instant credibility to our team. I dont think we're too far off from competiting for a playoff berth with the, current roster, definitely need to upgrade some certain areas of the team. But can you imagine how potent this offense would be with Brees pulling the trigger. Obviously there's a matter of developing chemistry but If have to think the addition of Brees makes us a top ten offense, potentially top five. For those who said no to acquiring Brees, care to explain your stance? Im interested in knowing why?

Swap QB's. Trade a third for Sean Peyton. Sign two solid OL free agents. Draft all defense.

Playoffs for sure and maybe a deep run in them. Just thinking out loud .

If cut, definitely.

In a trade, eh... it would really depend on the price.

ABSOLUTELY! As an organization I don't think we are sold on Ryan. We signed him to a contract that is easy to get out of after two years just in case his development took a turn for the worst. There's going to be an organization who believes they can fix his flaws and if that franchise is the Saints, I trade Ryan for Drew without blinking. I would build the offensive line by signing the best guard on the market (Brandon forget his last name), I would sign another for good measure. I would make a run at Eric Berry, Jason Pierre Paul and Janoris Jenkins hoping to come away with two if not all three. With the acquisition of the guards and putting effort into solidifying the OL AND adding Drew Brees how don't you feel DAMN good about the offense heading into next season? Round one, I would shoot to draft Ramsey or Hargraeves. I believe we're going to be in a position to land one of the two which is a BEAUTIFUL thing. Second round I would like to get Scooby Wright or the best Mike LB available. Id restructure Crimes to get him on a team friendly deal and suddenly I'm feeling DAMM good about our team heading into next season. I'll tell you what, I'm feeling very good about Janoris Jenkins and Hargraeves manning our starting CB positions. And Eric Berry and Reshad Jones holding down our safety spots.... Add that to Brees slinging it to our pass catchers and we are in contention and nobody can tell me otherwise

I think it is wider open than people think if Sean Peyton is here. However, it raises a question I have been asking for weeks, will a coach have the ability to nudge the FO's love for players they signed?

That front office may have signed Tannehill long term, but they didn't draft him...not sure how deep that love is.
