Would we have ripped Don and Dan for the end of that Chargers game? After the Michael Stewart pick Shula put the ball in Dan's hands and we went 3 and out with 2 incompletions, which stopped the clock, and one completion which was in front of the sticks on 3rd and 10. We failed to try to run to either keep the clock rolling or take San Diego's timeouts from them and remember 30 seconds to a minute off the clock could have changed the outcome of that game. Also, even on the game winning field goal drive we couldn't complete one pass and only got into range for the game winning field goal because of a penalty. Mike Williams had a step, had Dan been able to drop it in there we win. How about the call? Why not get 10-15 more yards to give Stoyanovich an easier field goal try?

I've been here since 2002 and we've ripped Fiedler and Wanny as well as Pennington and Sparano for mistakes as costly as these what about our legends. Due the Aqua colored glasses blind these mishaps?

We were outrushed 40 attempts to 8 in that game, despite leading virtually the entirety. I think NFL football could exist for 500 years without that type of masochistic nonsensical imbalance. I've never seen anything that remotely approached it. The Chargers and Bobby Ross never received enough praise for staying patient throughout the game.

Actually, it was a fitting reference point among the Shula/Marino pantyhose era. Somehow Shula avoided the onslaught he deserved for the 40-8, and Marino was never adequately ripped for allowing it to happen.

Then in the next six months we loaded up on worthless free agents at ridiculous rate and acted as if it were a fix all.

I agree with you 100% Awsi Dooger.

I also didn't like the fact that we didn't go for it on 4th and less than 1 with about 8 minutes left to play.. You just knew the Chargers would have consumed most of the time left on a long drive down only 6....They had long drives the entire game, and Miami's defense already had enough at that point.

Marino, with his size, can't run a QB sneak for just half a yard ? Come on.. We weren't getting a lot of possession time in the game anyway, we needed that drive to keep going. I hated when Shula called punt there.

Jeff Dellenbach was the center in that game and he had a very wide upper body. There is no reason Marino couldn't have seen the crease/angle the DT wasn't covering and quickly lean and step up Dellenbach's hip pocket for half a damn yard on the open side.

Get that first down, keep that drive alive for a closer field goal (than the one at the last seconds), and we win that game.. There is no way Stan freaking Humphries can score 10 pts with 3 minutes left in a game.. Which is what they would need if the Dolphins kept that drive going.

Although Miami's defense was dead tired and they probably would have lost in Pittsburgh a week later.

As much as I don't like Wanny, I like the fact that Wanny still has the same douche mustache. At least he remains consistent in one category other than playing it safe during games. ZING!
