Then we are truly the Philbin Bunch!

Gaine played at the University of Maine which at the time was coached by none other than Kirk Ferentz. So why is this a Philbin connection you ask?

Philbin and Ferentz coached together at the University of Iowa. Philbin coached under Ferentz.

I am really getting sick and tired of every hire having a past connection with Philbin. Lazor was a great hire and NO CONNECTION to Philbin. I understand that you have to have some connections in life and use them. But it is just like Ireland picking up every Cowboy castaway. At some point in time you have to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

If Gaine is hired I am ok with it IF he is the best candidate out there. But IF Lake Dawson is better at his job then hire him. Only caveat there is he has the Peterson Connection.

Ross needs to man up. He has screwed up this GM search by not being able to even get an interview with Gamble or McCloughan who were the 2 best available. If getting the BEST GM meant getting rid of Aponte then he should have done just that. He keeps trying to show loyalty but at some point in time he has to realize this is a business. If you have a property that is falling apart do you continue to try and salvage it? At what point in time do you bring in the bulldozers and wrecking crew to blow crap up and start fresh.

IF Gaine is hired, it's because no one else wanted a promotion with the Miami Dolphins.

I heard Philbin and Gaine both like peanut butter sandwiches too.

Well you know you can't honestly assume that.. Gaine was obviously with the organization many years before Philbin..

In the short term, it is the quickest way to win in Miami.

Give me the best LONG TERM answer. I would rather be good for a long period than just a year or two.

Who cares.

I care and here is why. Don't just look at the surface.

When you have a buddy system at GM what does that do for you. If Philbin fails again next year it makes it that much more of a reality that Philbin will not be canned when we all know that he should have been canned this year. Players have said they don't like him and the way he runs the ship already. Another losing season or 8-8 season is unacceptable. However, when you have a buddy at GM what do you think the chances are that the GM will step up and say what really needs to happen.

I think Gaine would have to publicly throw Ireland under the bus.
"I wanted to draft this guy, but Ireland said now; I wanted to sign this FA, but Ireland said no"
How can fans feel good about Ireland's understudy?

Not only that, but it actually is looking more like Ireland quit than the Dolphins fired him. Ireland snubbed Miami first (maybe).

I'll tell you one thing: If you listen to WQAM while you surf on here, you're a suicide risk. They are just HEAPING negativity on this stuff.
