So basically there is a new Jests interest in Wisconsin. The green sludge have now inherited thousands of Favre fans that want to watch the Jets game. This good news for the CBS affiliate in Wisconsin that before had no real interest in carrying AFC games.

This post however, is to ask..... if in 2001, Marino had retired, and then come back from retirement to join a non-rivalry NFC team, say NY Giants..... would you still have been a Dan Marino fan and rooted for the Giants?

My opinion is this, if Dan had done that what Brad did, I would haven't hated him as a person, he would have owed me nothing and should only do right by himself. As a fan, he would have been dead to me, I wouldn't go and root for some non-Dolphin team just because of one player. Seems kinda ridiculous to me that these fans have such a hard-on for one player, so strong that they'll root for a team that's not Green Bay....

What are your thoughts?

I would have rooted for Dan even if he went to play for the Jets, if he the Jets that year had a chance to win the Superbowl that is.

He is the one person imo who deserved it more then anyone who has walked through the MD doors.

Dan wanted to play for us and if he was forced into playing for Pitt like he was about too I would have pulled for him. I am always preaching over player fans but some players like Zach and Dan deserve it because they left wanting to be Dolphins.

At first it was the Viks but rember Pitt made the late push and played the hometown team card. Marino was almost a Steeler. He would have had a great chance there too IMO.

He almost did, rememebr minnesota.

I would have rooted for him regardless

The team is ALWAYS worth more than a player. And I don't care WHO IT IS.... If I could trade Marino's 17 years as a dolphin for another super bowl victory I would do it in a heartbeat.

The team always will be, and always should be FIRST over any one person. PERIOD. And the best GM's think the same way.

Aye, I can completely understand your reasoning, but i dont agree.

As a Fan, I would personally take his 17 years of peformances and not have a superbowl, then no Marino and 1 superbowl.
Of course, if I was a GM I wouldnt feel the same.

Of course he is the only player to ever make me feel this way, I would have traded JT, Zack,Surtain,Madison all of them for just 1 superbowl.

I think this logic works if you are a GM... but as a FAN the players are very important. I would have rooted for Marino on any team.

For all the people that say you wouldn't trade Marino for a SB.... Just wait until we win a SB, you will forget all about Marino with the joy of winning the SB will bring.

Marino will be a long distant memory.. Just like greats on other teams were long forgotten after they win "the big one".

No way in hell, Marino was "my guy" growing up. I have loved the dolphins since i was 4 years old, But Marino was the reason I followed them so closely.
He was and will always be my idea of the prototypical perfect QB.

I will never ever, ever oh did I mention never ever forget Marino.

Dolphins winning the superbowl would be 1 of the happiest moments in my life, but Marino winning one would have been better.

Ps. I guess it all depends in what era you grew up. I was born in 76, so from "80 on I have been a fan, but it wasnt till around '83 that I started really understanding the game, and this was when Marino became the "man".
