I have been thinking about the recent thread that suggested this.

Would Ross clear the way for him to succeed Hoke in Ann Arbor?

It has been suggested that Joe would make a better college coach. Further, it seems he likes/prefers the upper midwest/Great Lakes. Perhaps, JP takes Zac Taylor with him?

If so, I like to see Lazor named HC and have a Mike McCarthy like role. Get Scott Frost (Oregon) as QB coach/OC.

Next, kick Coyle to the Curb and bring in Wade Phillips as DC and a mentor for Bill. Wade could then implement his version of the 3-4 which is more like a 5-2. Cam, Vernon, Jenkins, & Dion could rotate at OLB. I'd resign Odrick (Let Starks walk) in hopes he could have a role like JJ Watt. Draft Shelton (UW) as the monster NT.

Doesn't Ross love his alma mater? Why would he seek to destroy them further?

I'm a little skeptical of giving Lazor complete free-reign so quickly. The guy's only been an OC in the NFL for 0.75 seasons; I dunno if that's the guy I want calling my teams plays with no checks and balances.

Joe wont Quit.. He isn't a quitter! Fired maybe but he wont quit..

Without getting to technical, many teams run that type of defense in a 4-3 Under with the most recent notable coach being Pete Carroll in Seattle. Dion IMO would be an ideal hybrid but we do need a bigger more physical DT/NT who could play a 2 gap technique in the middle (engage the center and be able to read and attack the A gaps on either side of him). Ideally we would also want larger ore physical man-2-man CB's as well.

If we was to blow this up , imo I wouldn't want to Gamble again , because if the next person fails (Lazor )which would get around 3 years to make it to the playoffs ,SB ,and if he fails then were looking again for another Coach ,and would take another 3 years under the next personal =6 and that would be not a grantee , SO if we blow this up and I was Ross I would call either Bill Cowher or John Gruden and hand them a check and give them what they want , Both knows what it takes to build a SB team and those would be the 2 on my radar .

I get what you're saying, but isn't every head coach hire a gamble? You've got coordinators turned head coaches, head coach retreads, college phenoms.... Lots of choices and so few pan out. Seems its harder to find a great head coach than it is to find a great quarterback.

That said...I'm hesitant to give a guy who is no even a proven coordinator a head coaching gig just like that. Granted, I know little about the technical side of football or much about Lazor, so maybe he's a born head coach. Just hope it works out before I turn forty.

Michigan isn't stupid enough to hire Joe Philbin to be their head coach.

Hire Todd Bowles back as HC....

We should of kept him when we had him. I thought he did well but who knew he would blow up as a coach with the Cards. Btw, isn't Arians a Defensive minded Coach? For all we know this could be a Philbin 2.0 scenario where McCarthy called all the Offensive plays.
