If this team can turn around from 1-6 to go 8-8 or better do we still go with Culpepper next year???

I wanna know what you guys think, because I personally think you stick with what wins games for you. We made the mistake to dump Gus last year and our offense was out of sync until our 8th game of the season. If harrington can end the season with 9 or 8 wins under his belt do we still make a change for daunte???

I think we stick.

I think the assesment of his knee will be looked at A LOT closer at the beginning of training camp next year.

Problem with what you said is that Joey hasnt been winning games, he has simply been on a team that was winning. Your team winning doesnt excuse your poor individual performance. He has played two good games in a row against horrible pass defenses so we will see what happens from here on out.

Our record doesn't determine Joey's fate. It isn't all to his credit weather we win or lose. If Joey continues to play like he did at Detroit, then there will be a question of who our QB is. But if we keep winning but Joey plays like he did vs. Chicago, Daunte's job is still in tact.

EDIT: I didn't vote in your poll because I chose Daunte but not for the reason you stated. Why would we stick with a guy because we payed money for him? Oh and by the way, we really didn't put THAT much money into him.

He has made our offense in sync, and we are winning games. Regardless of how, if we lose our consistently we will be 1-6 again no matter how well our defense plays

If Rex Grossman's job is intact, I see no reason why Harrington's can't be. A fair competition next offseason is what I want to see. Fair as in non-Wanny-Jay favoring. Forget the past whether good or bad, just focus on the future. If Harrington can continue to improve and shows the ability to keep our offense in sync or if Culpepper continues to show shades of 2005, Joey should get the job. Best man wins.

The only fair way to do it is to let them have a fair and OPEN competition at camp - something that did not happen during this past offseason.

Honestly

In all honesty joey outplayed daunte in the whole preseason and still saban started daunte .
i think joey will win again in the preseason but now saban is going to start joey .:dolphins:

We're not looking for a caretaker we're looking for someone to win us 4 games a year to take us from 9-7 to 13-3.

Do you lose consistency? Not if you find the right guy (Brees, Rivers, Romo...)

Rex has a back up that has already failed in the league in people eyes. Grease has not proven himself that is the only reason Rex still has a job. I think Joey is a good backup but I would want to give another person a shot before I would keep him in.

You bring up an excellent factor, but it doesn't help your point. Kyle Orton got the Bears to the playoffs last year, yet once Rex was healthy they put him right in. Everyone, coaches players etc. were all excited, even though Orton is the one who essentially led them to the playoffs.

Rex has been inconsistent lately, AZ and then us showed everyone how to rattle him. But they are sitting at 9-2 with him, so it's not all doom and gloom over there.

people here misunderstand what an nfl QB is , it is not just throwing nice balls . it is ..reading the defense , having leadership , make your line sync better with your call rythm , changing a play when it is not there to play it .....joey is doing a very good job ...im very pleased with him . there is no debate in the QB position right now ... and saban knows that better than anyone .

This, in my opinion, will be the barometer weekend for Joey.

With Ronnie being out, we will likely take to the skies alot.
