Although Miami is sitting on 7-6 record so far but the plays especially on defense reflects otherwise. The core of the Miami Dolphins' defense has gotten soft. A once forceful unit, which consistently held opponents to 4.0 or fewer yards per carry for three consecutive seasons, got compromised the past 3 games where opposing running backs averaged over 100yrds par game.

On top of that, the Dolphins offense is inconsistent at times. The ghost of the past woes on OL reappeared it seemed like on Sunday when the they gave up 6 sacks. Who are we kidding this team needs a lot of players. There are holes every where, the irresponsible spending spree the team went during 2013 free agency period hasn't paid any dividend and now with a sub par team the team must face the salary cap crunch. Some are now saying if the team misses playoff again for the 6th times in a row, should they start another rebuilding process.

What do you define as a rebuilding process? The majority of the team is young isn't it? It's one thing to cut all of the old veterans but there's hardly a ton of them on the team to begin with.

just keep drafting good players. its always rebuilding. But everyone knows you need a great QB to make it happen.

so is your question to rebuild without RT?

blow it all up and start fresh

I fear that if Philbin is fired there will be a total rebuild because that just seems to be the way it's done in the NFL these days. Truthfully, there is a good nucleus of talent and a coach who wasn't married to a specific system and is adaptable to his talent could come to Miami and hit the ground running.

Philbin will definitely have to go. Hickey is an interesting situation. I thought his draft and off-season moves have been pretty good barring the injuries. But if he has to go out with the bath water to get a decent coach then so be it.

We don't need to rebuild. There's only one thing we need to do.

Preach, CO.

It is hilarious to me that some of the very same people I see endorsing Philbin because "we can't afford to blow up this fine young nucleus" are some of the very same people who are completely opposed to bringing in Jim Harbaugh, often on the grounds that 'Harbaugh inherited great talent in San Francisco.'

So let me get this straight, you want to stick with your bad coach because you don't want to rebuild the entire team, yet you are opposed to bringing in another head coach with a FANTASTIC track record because... he won with talent that had already been assembled?

:sidelol:

Fix the interior of the OL and DL and this is EASILY a playoff team.

Marino will complete his internship end of season... he's not hanging around just to be hanging around... look for him to assume some managerial duties pretty soon..

Every time you bring in a new GM or HC it's a re-building process. Ideally, you stick with your gut choice on your initial decision as HC, give him 4-5 years and you build every year through the draft.

Well I'm not really sure. RT is our guy, so I'd say not to "rebuild" but to "build around." Fix that ****ing O-line for ****s sake. It's disgraceful.

The team does not need "blowing up".

It is mediocre because they have set the bar low and drafted and procured mediocre players in the hope someone will develop into a steal.

When this franchise quits looking for acorns it will turn the corner. Hickey started that process last year, it needs to continue and it needs to extend to skill-position OFFENSE. This team needs PLAYMAKERS at WR and RB. Give this team a true 1 receiver and a top RB (Moreno's injury HURT) and it is a playoff team that can paper over the mistakes at LB.

The first 3 rounds of next year's draft MUST give us 3 guys who can be in the Top 10 of the league at WR, RB and LB.

When we see this team step up to the plate and move up to get a Cooper or Gordon like they WASTED the move for dion jordan, we will know they are headed in the right direction.
