I'm one of those whackos who thinks we should draft Matt Ryan with the first pick. But I also realize this might not happen. If it doesn't, I wouldn't mind seeing Miami take Brian Brohm in the 2nd. What really has changed from last year, where he might have been taken #1 if he skipped his senior year, to this year? Not much besides the draft class. I liken the way his stock has dropped to what happened to Dan Marino's draft day stock value after his last season in Pitt and the fins cashing in on the mistake in perception.

This is just me speculating, but if Matt Ryan isn't the pick at #1, then I hope to hear us call Brian Brohm's name in the 2nd.

You know just by posting this Adam is going to disown you!

I think it more likely that we draft one in the 3rd or 4th, I don't think Brohm makes it into the second, he had a good combine and to me is the best QB coming out.

Really? I wasn't aware he had moved that far up the draft boards, but I haven't been following him that closely. Either way, I think some team is going to be pleased with his services.

Edited to add, guess I'll just go back to screaming for Matt Ryan which has always and will always be my hope until I hear another name called on that first pick of draft day. I just hope we don't draft anyone's "family" this year.

Maybe Ginn will play QB...too.

Being a Louisville fan I've seen him play plenty of times and would be happy if he some how fell to the 2nd and we got him. That being said I don't think he'll fall that far and I have not heard anything at all about Parcells et al being interested in him.

Does anyone even know if we interviewed him last weekend?

As far as arm length goes, he did fine in college and didn't have any more pass batted than anyone else. He's 6'3", 230 Lbs. with a 30 inch vert and 9'7" broad jump. He's a better athlete than people give him credit for. I don't think the shorter arms will hurt him.

I don't want to make this into a large issue...but just thinking...if you have two QB's both 6'3" and one has an arm length of 30" and the other has an arm length of 33"..it just seems that the one with the smaller arm length will be throwing and releasing the football three inches lower than the QB with the 33" arm length...so he should be really looked at like if he was a 6 ft QB throwing the football.

that's bad logic. :)

I like Brohm but i think he's the best QB in the draft myself.... Ryan gets all the media hype. Ryan and Brohm both go in the first, my prediction. We can consider Flacco in the second, but my problem is i think he's really a 3rd-4th round pick.... but because the QB class is rather weak, his value this year is higher than it would be most other years. I think taking Flynn in the 5th would be a good compromise.

I think Brohm could be there for the #32 pick, but not for our 2B pick. But I don't see us taking Brohm. I kind of like Henne more than Flacco as I think he has better feet, and he also played at Michigan, where as Flacco played against pretty crappy teams at Deleware. If we don't grab a FA quarterback like Anderson, Volek or Holcombe, than I think we will go after Henne.

I keep hearing all of these arguments about "he played against better competition".

If we want to bring competition, accuracy, ints and TDs into the picture to decide our next QB, then stop looking at the bottom of the list and start looking at the top.

3 years in the SEC as a starter. Set the NCAA record for consecutive passes without an INT, 325 (previous was 271). Has superior TD/INT ratios in a pass heavy offense against the best conference in America and the best defenses in America. Beat the National Champion LSU Tigers this year. I say again... look at the top of the QB list.

Year Games Comps/Atts Yards TDs/INTs Rating
Jr 13 295/452 3,515 31/7 146.84
Sr 13 327/518 3,709 40/11 144.51

And, he'll be there in the top of the 2nd.

Andre Woodson.

I was just thinking that.

Brohm going to the 2nd round means none of the other teams want a young QB. Ryan and Flacco get the pub but Brohm's a fantastic prototypical franchise QB in my opinion. I wanted him to declare last year so we could've nabbed him with our 1st.

If we pass on Ryan for some reason, I think Brohm becomes a definite possibility. Henne and Flacco look like they are both first rounders all of a sudden and if Brohm somehow slips I would grab him in an instant

I dont understand the hit Brohm has taken this year. I think he'll be great value in the 2nd if he lasts that long. I would be amazed if he lasts past the Ravens though
