I think if Pace does sign in Miami, there will be little to no chance we draft Chris Long with the #1 pick. They play the same position and would be the outside LB in a 3/4 D. Pace is still young so that would be a signing for the present and future. If Parcells can get Pace to sign, I'm sure he will be looking at something else with the first pick. Now I think Chris Long will be a star in this league with his size, skills, motor and attitude, but I think Parcells will give a strong consideration to Jake Long if Pace ends up with the fins. Our OL still has some MAJOR holes. The signing of Smiley was a good one, but we still need another guard and tackle. Jake Long impressed at the Senior Bowl and even more so at the combine. Adding this type of offensive lineman will only help the development of Beck and keeping Ronnie healthy. Another way Parcells can go if Pace is signed would be to go with Matt Ryan if he doesn't think Beck is the one. Then there is always the trade down that might be a lot harder than people think. I think that if the dolphins sign Pace, that could change our whole direction for the rest of the offseason. What does everybody out there think?

Chris Long may still be the choise if we go with Pace because JT and joey Porter wont be here that much longer if we get both Long and Pace witch would be an awsome combo and Chris long can play DE in the 3-4 that what he played in college

um i think that the signing of pace is huge. this is put new life into an atlanta trade up because of the fear of matt ryan at 1. if we stay i like long. jake. im not a big fan of taking a lt that early but y not itll help and who else will we pick. i say take
1- j.long
2-b.flowers
2.-erin henderson
3-chilo rachal
the second 2 and 3 can be interchangable, becasue chances are they wont be taken b4 each other. thoughts?
also jt for lito shepard- get it done bp

yeah i too believe if pace signs, chris long may still be the choice, taylor will not be here long at all, i think parcells wants to keep taylor because pace wants to play across from him, IMO

I think we wont get rid of Joey Porter any time soon if we get rid of him that is a big cap hit.

c long cant play de in a 34. he did it in colege but u no what if we went by collage then a lto of players careers would be different. this is the pros pal and long is drasticly undersized to do any kinda damage in a 34 at end, especaily with the money we r shelling for him

I still think Jake Long would be a better acquisition.....he would make our o-line so much better....I think we have plenty of guys now on defense, so lets get Jake Long, a solid QB through the draft and a TE....I think these are our biggest needs.

If that's the case, I definiately don't want Pace then. I would much rather have Chris Long than Pace, who, for all we know, is a one-year-wonder in a contract year. I have no doubt C Long will be a great player for a long time and seems to be a great fit for us, much better than Pace IMO. I still think Pace doesn't completely eliminate Chris as the pick though. Taylor could be traded for all we know. But even if he isn't, his time and Porter's time on the Dolphins is numbered. They are both getting older now and it would make sense to add a young infusion of talent at that spot to prepare for the future. Long could also play with his hand down until there is space for him on the outside, that's something else to think about I guess. Should be interesting... Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

BP probably views C.Long as a DE not a OLB, he isn't going to stay at the same weight. He's more than fast enough to put on weight an still be an animal coming off the edge.

If Long and Pace are playing opposite from each other, where would you see Joey Porter playing? MLB? It would cost us too much to trade and cut him so he would have to move to the inside where it takes away from his effectiveness to rush the QB.

yea i know but if we get both Long and Pace he will most likly get traded

I don't think it would be that easy. I would cost us a lot to trade him and we probably wouldn't get much for him. Maybe a 3rd rounder? A 3rd rounder and a big cap hit wouldn't be worth it. He started playing a lot better towards the end of the year when I think his knee was finally healed up.

yea i dont want to trade Poter i think he is an awsome player

So if Pace gets signed, it's either Jake Long or Matt Ryan. Hopefully the interest in Matt Ryan is a smokescreen so Atlanta can trade up for him. If not, and Parcells doesn't like Beck, it's gotta be between Jake Long and Matt Ryan for the first pick. We NEED offensive line help and this guy is a monster. Offensive linemen don't drop from the skies. We need to draft and develop them so Beck and Ronnie have the protection.

I see it as Jake Long. Take the best of the great OL prospects. We have gapping holes on the left side of the OL
