Ok, I was thinking this last night watching the game. Well the first thing I was thinking was that neither team has a defense. lol> But The Dallas Cowboys are Big and Impressive. Everyone agrees that Bill Parcells built that team. But he also coached that team. I know its early and I know we arent going to be very good for a while. (a long while) But Parcells is a hands on guy and it must be in the back of his mind. All i know is I want to be a fan of a Team like Dallas became. Will that happen. Who knows. Just a little dream.

I know Parcells had a hand in a lot of it, but Jerry Jones is the GM, which some of those roster moves were his doing. So I don't know if Parcells deserves as much credit for the current Cowboys. Didn't he not want T.O.?

True about T.O. But honestly. Jerry Jones was the only guy crazy enough to keep him. And it did work out great. But I cant fault parcells on that one. I woulndt have taken PacMan either. But Jerry is a showman and he usually makes it work.

The Cowboys are the most valuable sports team in the world, valued at almost $2 billion...You don't get there without being a showman and trying to bring in the best "acts" in the business ;)

Did he really build the cowboys? I thought that was the GM's job with some input from the HC? I doubt that Jerry Jones would let Parcells have full or even majority control over who he brought in, kept or let go. I just don't see a controlling person like Jones allowing that.

Yeah, I would love to have Jerry For an owner. I know Wayne has been good but Jerry is the ring master. He has to have the bigest and best of everything and he needs it now! But there only seems to be one jerry jones.

The difference between Miami and Dallas is they actually have an owner that is also a football guy, as opposed to us who have an owner that would rather the Dolphins be some circus side show. Wayne is just a clueless putz.

Jones is the Cowboys Owner/GM

Wrong.

Parcells took the job in Dallas under conditions that Jones give him 100% GM powers over the team. The only person Jones brought in during Parcell's stint there was Terrell Owens. Any Dallas fan will tell you that his doing that is pretty much what started the process which eventually led to Parcells leaving Dallas before finishing his project. Prior to Parcells, Dallas was a joke. Jones made some of the worst draft choices I've ever seen (Quincy Carter in the 2nd round), and made it a habit of signing over-the-hill veterans, much like the Redskins do now. Parcells 100% built that team as we see it today......

Well when you look at our roster, I would start with how many guys on our current roster could be starters on a current playoff team. Subract that number by our roster number(53). Then how many draft picks do you realistically hit on, 2? 3? The how many free agents could we realistically sign in one offseason without ruining us for years to come. Sure we signed alot of FAs.. but alot of them aren't even on the roster.

People are saying 2 years to become competitive. I would give another year or 2 until we're a SERIOUS SB contender.

Wrong.

Not quite.

While Jerry assured BP that Bill would be buying the groceries, Jerry insisted that all the team needed were a few pieces.

First year, Jerrys scout team, Jerrys DC, Jerrys QBs(Hutch&Quincy) which, IMO, delayed the rebuilding process.

Jerry signed such notables as Henson, George, and Peerless Price.

If it had been left up to Jerry, Romo would have been GONE once Henson was signed!

Bill wanted high character players, Jerry needed the media attention.

The result is what Miami is experiencing now. Bill blew up this team instead of waiting as he was forced to do in Dallas.

It WILL be painful but will in the end result in a quicker turnaround.

We have to get him back out there and try to give him another chance to see what he can do, ... The fact of the matter is this: If you can't participate, I can't get any evidence that you're capable.

We don't want Parcells coaching this team, trust me on this, he is at best an ok game day coach, what makes him better then the rest is he is a motivator of the Lombardi type level, he can do that at the position he is at already. Bring him down as our HC, and yes, we may become a little better but within 2 years we will need to find a new HC, and in the 2 years, we will have accomplished nothing with him at the position. This team is going to get better, maybe slowly, but by midseason. this team will be much better.

Good read by Parcells/Harvard Business Review(pdf)

"The people in your company have little loyalty; some even want to fail. Your star performers expect constant pampering. Your stockholders are impatient, demanding quick results. And the media scrutinize and second-guess your every move.

I can relate."
