... and after serving this four game suspension and considering the fact that his contract looks pretty much re-done (not sure about that infamous 8 million that was floating around forever) what does ricky owe the dolphins if he decided to walk?

i would assume he would still owe the 8mill

Wayne is not an idiot, I think he is holding that 8 million over Ricky's head as leverage.

I've had not heard anything stating that anything has changed with the 8.6 he owes the Phins......it's not as if it was automatically erased by his return. It is still owed until the Dolphins forgive it, or Ricky pays it.

i dont think the 8 mill was ever forgivin i think it was just put on hold so if ricky walked away theyd still have that judgement over him

yeah but it has to be legal. did he restructure or what? what the deal is with this new figure of 500,000 and no other money, no cap hit etc?

i think when he retired it set off somthing in his contract making his salaries minimum for the remainder of his contract i could be wrong here though

It was all part of the original contract he signed having stipulations if he were to breach the contract, which he did. It stated that in addition to the 8.6 million, his salary would revert back to the vet minimum....it's all very legal.

A judge ordered him to pay back the 8 Mill.. not the NFL, not anyone else.. so regardless of what he and the dolphins do with his contract for this season, due to the judgement against him, he still owes the Dolphins 8 Mill... that's based solely on the judgement against him and nothing else figures into that.. basically the Dolphins aren't pressing that payment right now because he has come back to the team and played, but, should he just walk again, the judgement still applies.. nothing erases based on current or future contracts.. they are seperate from the 8 Mill and the judgement. And based on his breaking the contract.. due to the contract.. his salary goes back to the vet min..

im curious if most NFL players have that clause about quitting early...or if it was just ricky's due to they knew he was a little different than your avg nfl player

I recall reading that Wayne had gotten the 8 million dollar repayment fee removed. At the time it left the impression that Ricky had to play. So I would assume that it would be owed once again, prorated with a couple of months debt removed rom the total.
