If Ronnie Brown doesn't have a great game I really hope people on this board don't start freaking out. I think he will have a good year and hopefully he'll have a good game, but we shouldn't count on it. There are some major factors going against Ronnie which could be hard to overcome.

1. The Steelers have a very good defense. Their defense is big, strong, and fast and it will be much harder to run on them than it will be to pass. The Dolphins will probably try to establish the run, but if the Steelers blitz alot (and they probably will) the Dolphins may need to use quick passes to move the ball.

2. The line is still a bit of a work in progress. Yes, Hudson Houck is a very good coach and in time I think this line will be an effective unit but early in the season they may have some struggles. There will be 3 players starting at new positions on the line (Hadnot was at guard last season and will be playing center) and it will probably take some time for them to gel as a unit.

So please don't start going nuts and freaking out if Ronnie doesn't have a 100 yard game in fact against this defense 75 yards may be very good. The truth is he may be a bigger factor recieving as he has been impressive in that area in the pre season. If the Dolphins get out to a lead they may try and run Ronnie and he could eventually wear down the Steelers D and end up with a nice game, but like I said don't call for his head if he doesn't have a great game.

Winning cures all ills. If we win nobody will have a problem. On the other hand if we lose everybody from Ronnie to Saban to the pizza delivery guy (who shows up late and some how jinxed us) will get blamed for the loss. It jus kinda comes with the territory.
I agree however about Ronnie's numbers, I have him in a fantasy league and I started Tiki and Fred Tayor over him this week, because I don't think Ronnie will put up big numbers this week.

I think he will have a good game. He looked good in the first 2 preseason games against 2 tough defenses, but had a tough outing against Carolina due to a poor effort by the o-line. I don't think Pitts o-line is as strong as Carolina's and I think he will have 100+ yards and 1 TD.

I don't expect a big rushing day from him, probably at/under 4.0 yds a carry, and a few receptions, but he needs to have a good day blocking and picking up blitzes.

I am thinking 80 yards, but also 5 receptions for 50-60 yards and a TD also!

I think that as long as he isn't hit repeatedly in the backfield like he was against the Panthers he should have at least 85-100 yrds on the ground and a few receptions. It all depends on the O-line IMO.

It will probably be one of those games where he'll get hit a lot in the backfield and have negative yds. in the 1st quarter. But, with blitzing teams if you get a crack you can get a big gain and I fully expect him to hit a few for long yardage. Especially in the second half if they have a lead.
The O-line while not considered very talented (by some) is very big and trying to push that weight around for 4 quarters will tire out a D-line, so I look for them to soften up some in the latter parts of the game.

I have some bad news, Ronnie has yet prove he "is the man". Until he does and considering his draft status and salary he will be judged harshly and deservedly so.

Time for him to prove he was worth it.

See, already guys are lining up to criticize Ronnie, and he hasn't even played the damn game. :tantrum:

I suppose Mr Fan could do better. :shakeno:

Where was this a critical post? It was and is a simple statment of fact.

If you are unable to accept factual observations you are in for a long difficult life I suspect.:sidelol:

He needs to have a good receiving day too. From what I have read about Pitts D, RB's have exposed them in the passing game. I think Ronnie is just the man for the job. :D
