Why is it that our own team scours OTHER team's 2nd and 3rd string QBs to look for that diamond in the rough?

Through 2 coaching regimes, Sage has survived as a 3rd string QB on a team that has signed and started 1 QB who was a 3rd string for the Eagles and another QB who was the 2nd string for the Vikings.

Consider that we are not the only team in the NFL who has scouts. No other team has attempted to get Sage from us. Just recently in a trade for Lemon, San Diego did not ask for Sage...they requested Feeley who was playing 3rd string behind him!

I do NOT understand why people here think he has something that every single scout and coach in the NFL has missed.

Not saying it is impossible for him to be a solid QB...but highly unlikely given what we know.

SABAN agrees with you that is why he ain't playing. I think AJ was traded partly just to get rid of Dave W's garbage.

Are you positive the requested Feeley? It would have been pointless to trade Sage to them, Feeley is the one with the monster salary.

I don't think that all the fans who want Sage as a starter believe that he is so good. Just that he is better than Frerotte.

Saban is looking for a franchise QB. Most people calling for Sage aren't saying he is a franchise QB. They are saying that Sage can do better than Gus this year. Unfortunately Gus hasn't set the bar very high in order to out perform him. Also if SD is looking for a backup QB especially in their case. They would prefer to have someone that has some experience. But I think the Chargers GM Said something to effect don't just look at the QB we got look at the draft pick.

I am kind of nuetral on this arguement.

I think its called desperation..

becuase things look fine now, but Miami will be on a losing streak with gus, because this team makes it so easy for other defenses. Miami has talent on WRs but Gus can't tak advantage of that, so the passing has faultered, and will even more when the season continues, therefore Miami will lose a bunch of games in a row, this offense has to get going. I just have a feeling that the passing game would get going with Sage, becasue the WRs would actually be apart of the offense because he can actually hit them. This team is so one dimensional right now becuase of Gus and that needs to change, because the last three games Miami lost were from other teams using a simple formula that was very effective against Miami's offense becuase of Gus.n Stop the run and see if Gus can beat you, he obviously can't hit a wide open receiver, so Miami needs a change, or else they will start losing a lot of games.

Yes, that and the fact that we got nothing to lose. Almost everytime i've seen Sage play for the Dolphins, which isn't much, he's came in and did an applaudable job, he managed the game, and made the throws neccessary to win.

This thread is titled, "If Sage is so damn good.."

Who the hell is saying Sage is damn good, and how could anyone say that. The people who want Rosenfels to start, me being one of them, don't expect him to be 'damn good' but I do however expect him to be better than Frerotte, how much better? Likely not a 'whole' lot. But we need something to shake our passing game up.

To answer thread starters question, I don't know why nobody gives him a chance, us, or other teams, but it's not the first time a 3rd string qb has gotten overlooked even after displaying what seems to be the tools to be a good player.

I will tell you something. Sage better be damn good if he is going to post numbers better than Frerotte. Right now, Frerotte is playing average. For Sage to start and have better numbers than Frerotte, he would have to have a higher completion percentage than 52%...and more TDs than INTs....right now Gus is even.

My point is, if Sage comes in and out performs Gus...he very well is our future QB.

As often as Gus misses wide open receivers, it's a shock to me he doesn't have a few more INTs. Maybe he's just been really lucky.

Gus has started 7 games this year. Fiedler started 7 games all of last season, and their numbers are pretty much identical. Keep in mind last season was Fiedlers worst performance as a Dolphin. And Frerotte has a better offense now than Fiedler probably ever has, definately better than last year.

From what I've heard, SD ask for a 6th in return for Lemon & Miami said we will give you the 6th but you have to take Feeley so we can clear cap space for next year.

SD did not request nor want for Feeley. AJ will be cut quickly after the season.

so if he's slightly above average, he's the future QB? i hope saban doesn't have the bar that low.

when saban traded feeley, he must've had some confidence in sage... we all know gus is just one endzone celebration away from the IR :)
