The Dolphins' PR black eye is a result of unfulfilled expectations. Ross has continually pumped up something during his tenure, and 99% of the time, it hasn't come to fruition.

"I won't be outbid!"

"We will win!"

You would think he would learn his lesson by now, but no. This Manning thing got rolling when Ross started blabbing to the media about his desire to get Manning. If he had stayed quiet on his interest in Manning, people might still be upset, but not like how it is now. He ****teased the entire fanbase, and as of now, hasn't even gotten a meeting with the guy.

Our owner needs to be muzzled if we ever hope to have a respectable image to the public (and as a result, to free agents) ever again.

Ross never said such things first of all. Second, be mad at yourself for beleiving all the media hype. Pretty much every rumor reported by the media about Miami has been false, going back about 10 years now.

Skape,

I usually agree with ya, but...

Did you see Ross do an interview where he publicly said those things about Manning? I didn't. I think the media likes to say that stuff about Ross because he has a made a few mistakes in the past with being over eager and vocal. I have to think the guy has learned his lesson. He has learned the hard way that that approach does not work so well in the NFL. Since Manning was released I have not heard / read anything from the Dolphins, and even very little from so-called "sources" within the Dolphins organization. They are keeping their mouths shut and playing it very close to the vest.

Maybe we get Manning, maybe we don't, but this time around I have not seen anything from Ross (at this point) that would make it his fault.

You are right, its hard to know what to believe. However, if there weren't any truth to it, I would come out and clear the air if I were Ross. Its obvious that he is genuinely interested, but does not seem to be able to close a deal, once again.

If they didn't get a meeting because Manning refused to throw for them, IMO the Dolphins did the right thing. There are a lot of reasons it won't be the Phins fault if Manning doesn't want to sign here. There are a lot of reasons it may be their fault as well.

However, I don't know why ppl have to pre-judge our front office before things actually occur.

Ross never said anything about Manning publicly, so how can he shut up? He never said anything. All he said is that finding a franchise quarterback is a must, never said it had to be Manning.

I agree ohall. I'm sorry, I love Peyton and would LOVE to see him in a Dolphins uniform, but to just sign him, sight unseen with no workout, no throwing is setting yourself up. If the Dolphins win out in this thing and do it without seeing him throw, then I for one will be crossing my fingers that all the reports and such about him being ok physically are all accurate and that he's able to surivive that first big hit he gets...

With the media enjoying bad mouthing Ross every chance they get, could you imagine how they would crucify him if he spoke up tried to clear the air? It would be absolutely brutal. What he needs to do is just continue to keep quiet, stay in the background, and let Ireland and Philbin do what they are being paid to do.

Ross can't even talk to the media without stuttering every second so sure, let Ross talk to the media, it might be funny.

We got reports that he specifically told the Redskins no, same with KC and Seahawks. We have yet to read any specific reports of saying he's not interested in Miami. by now, I would think he would have communicated to us that he was not interested if that were the case.

However, if it does turn out that Miami asks/asked for a meeting, but never gets one, then Peyton can go F$%* himself and I hope all of South Florida shuns him like a lepper... Even if he never intended to sign with us, he should at least do his part time home-town and it's fans the courtesy of at listening to a proposition.

Ross needs to learn to run the team like a business and not like a fan. Just because you are a billionaire doesn't mean you can buy whatever you want. The best thing Ross can do is surround himself with the football people who have experience with winning franchises and distance himself from the glitz and glam crap of celebrity owners and all the stuff that has ZERO to do with the product on the field. Us natives are growing increasingly impatient with the dolphins and have been for awhile. Just because we are in south florida doesn't mean it has to be a constant circus...

C'mon man, think for yourself, and don't be so quick to jump on the media bandwagon who love to dump on Ross. He's done nothing wrong here.
