If the Dolphins lose to the Jets on Sunday, that will mean they dropped 2 crucial games against inferior opponents that kept us from the playoffs. After the Patriots victory, the Dolphins could get into the playoffs by winning the final 2 games.

If this nightmare scenario occurs, which option in the poll would you prefer and why? Who is most responsible for this failure?

If the Fins lose Sunday, Ireland will be canned. People will question Ryan Tannehill for the offseason. Joe Philbin will skate by, but start 2014 on the hot seat.

None of this is good for the franchise. They have to win for a myriad of reasons. Playoffs or not, 9-7 is vital to the organization.

Voted Fire Ireland.

Think the team should fire him regardless of what happens Sunday and/or in any potential playoff games.

Not a huge fan of this coaching staff but I honestly think that what they've been given to work with in some areas is simply untenable. People are blaming the offensive coaching and a lot of different things for the pass protection issues, but in my mind it's simply not the coaching staff's fault that it was given total crap to work with in terms of personnel. The fact that a desperation trade mid-season for a washed up 34 year old tackle with a bad knee could cut the team's average number of sacks per game almost in half is absolutely frightening.

I've really tried not to rip on Jeff Ireland in every single thread, but the guy is flat out incompetent and when people around the league are telling NFL Network reporters that we have an 'expansion level' offensive line or that Ireland is the new Matt Millen, I think that about says it all. I was willing to give him a pass because he fixed the quarterback position, but now I realize just how stupid that is.

This past offseason can't be seen as anything but a disaster and for that Jeff needs to be held accountable.

There will be questions but not on Tannehill. He has shown progress and won some big games. He's still learning and has little support in Oline and Backs but has done pretty well.

I do believe coach is safe as well as Ireland but if there is any concern of firing it will be Ireland.

I vote to keep together because I am tired of turnover. I am not a Joe guy, but I do not want to start over. Plus, I really do not want a forced marriage with Joe and another GM.

Best to keep it together, though I strongly question Joe's skills.

If you fire Ireland, what has shown you that keeping Philbin is a good thing? What has Joe done that says this guys a definate keeper?

If you fire a GM, and hire another with the HC still in power, that makes for a difficult setup. Look at Idzik and Rex. I always thought it was a given for the GM to pick the HC and go from there down the line.

Yep. I really want to like Joe Philbin -- he's the Dolphins head coach -- but he's not giving me any reasons to like him.

I'd be fine with firing Ireland and allowing the new GM to make a determination on Joe Philbin. I've heard and read repeatedly that Philbin is actually very well regarded around the league. If that's true, let the new GM make the determination on him. I got no problem with that.

If the new GM says that Joe can stay, I'm okay with that. If the new GM says Joe has to go... I'm also okay with that.

I voted to fire everyone. IMO there is no way with the postseason on the line do you lose to the Bills and the Jets, especially after beating the Patriots for three straight wins. Honestly though I have no clue what really would happen. This team has been so up and down this year. There have been so many distractions and injuries. Do any of us truly have a pulse on how good this team really is. I know I don't. Philbin is only on his second year and this is his first HC gig of his career so I imagine he still has quite a lot of growing/maturing to do as a HC. Ireland on the other hand not to confident about. I would also be in favor of keeping Philbin and firing Ireland as long as the new GM would give Philbin at least one more year to see if he can coach better without hopefully as many distractions and injuries next year.

by my count its 4 games againts inferior teams...

we lost to buffalo twice and the bucs...if we lose to the jets thats 4 Ls that should have been Ws...

Joe has shown an ability to keep the team together amongst all the nonsense that has happened. He deserves another year. My biggest problem is Sherman, however I can't see Joe firing him. We need a much more innovative offense now with the asset we have behind center. Sherman can't do it.

even if we lose I dont see Ross firing anyone. IMO Ireland, Philbin and even Sherman will be back next year.. It will be a travesty

I would not fire anyone, I would let Philbin and Ireland make any decision they think needs to be made with the coaching staff and hold them responsible for those decisions....I do not want to fire a coach after only 2 yrs, I believe when you hire a coach you must give him time to succeed before dropping the ax, unless you have an awful season (1-15) I think instability is worse than mediocre coaching and it scares away potential future coaching prospects...what coach would want to come here under these types of circumstances.........after yr 3 I would make a decision to either go in another direction or resign them both for 3 more yrs.....one thing is certain Philbin will be the last coach Ireland hires....

A lot on the line this week, more than just the playoff implications imo.

Lose and we finished 2-4 in the division. TWO AND ****ING FOUR!?! To the likes of Thad Lewis and Geno Smith is pretty ****ing terrible.

Lose and we went 4-4 at Sun Life. We finished 5-3 last season at home, we should have been improving here not taking a step back.

8-8 is exactly what this team was on paper before the season, would expect better than just meeting expectations from an above average staff.

We have been a 6-8 win team since 2009, with ONE common factor. Hmmmm?
