Do you think he will come looking for players that he is familiar with from the Phins....like Madison for instance.....and would Saban be willing to trade with a divisional opponent?

If the price is right, I'm sure that he would. Just look at how nicely NE did by trading Bledsoe to Buffalo...

IMO, I think Bates wants back in the AFC East because he has spite against Miami.

Good, then when he is with the Jets, we will win in the 4th quarter everytime!

I liked Bates, but he seems to be acting a little immature....he doesn't get the HC for the Phins so he leaves, now he didn't get the HC job in Packers land so he leaves again.....grow up man.

He won't go to either Jets or Pats, since both will be running 3-4 defenses, and Bates is a 4-3 guy.

If we do trade Sam, I'd like it to be to a divisional opponent. He'll cost them more than he will be worth.

I love ignorant comments about players who are some of the few best we ever had in this organization and provided us many good years..

...oh how quickly people can turn into SELLOUTS against their team.

Wasn't he only DC under wanny? You guys collapsed alte in agmes and seasons for years before bates got there.

Bate's defense is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo Vanilla!! Baskens and Robbins should make it a flavor..I'm glad we got that attack defense we have now..I liked Bates but we have improved our defensive playcalling.

If you've got the players to run it, it can be a VERY Suffocating Defense. We should know, there were times when they were lights out. But it seems that Bates wouldn't adjust to changes made by teams late in the games. It was always "what you see is what you get", and when he did blitz, it was an obvious give away who and from where it was gonna be.

You are right, but that doesn't change the fact that Bates is just plain, plain vanilla dude. Your defense will be good on paper, but the minute your opponent makes an in-game adjustment, you get torched!

Bates is a nice guy, good coach Monday-Saturday, but his in-game adjustments could be among the worst in the league.

Good luck!
