let's say the Pats lose to TB next week. then lose to the Phins week 17, and the Dolphins win out, making both teams 9-7. Who would make the playoffs?

we need tampa to win next week which there a good chance they will. and we would need the jets to somehow make a attempt to win against the pats some how. and last but not least if all goes well. it would come down to the last game of the season. i dunno if we can go anywere in the playoffs with the secondary we have. its absolutly terrible. imagine reggie howard covering reggie wayne or marvin harrison or hines ward lol!!!!!!

Yep. Patriots have to lose to the Jets if I understand things right.

Jets may do it, they have been in worse situations, and doing the job versus everyone in our division.

It's so strange that i'll cheer them.
That makes me sick!!!:rofl3:

you sure the Pats would go? If we were to go 9-7 we would've beaten 3 times that beat the Pats.

Division record would be the next tiebreaker, not common opponents.

so what if the Pats beat the Bucs, but then the Jets beat the Pats, and we win out, making us both 9-7. Would that change anything (cause the Pats losing to the Jets is a division loss) or would the Pats still be the team to make the playoffs?

Pats would win the division by virtue of a better division record.

I gotta feeling we won't win out. The way this team plays vs sorry opponents (Jets, Bills 1st time, Cleveland) we'll blow one of the next two games.

Pats are currently 4-0 in the division. If we were to win out, we would top out at 3-3. Our only hope is for them to lose the rest of their games from here on out and we would have to win out and beat them straight up. The Bucs can beat them but I doubt the Jets will do us any favors. Hopefully they will at least show up and pretend to care unlike the damn Bills who rolled over and died.

I doubt we blow one

and

Im predicting the jets beat the patriots, ok laugh and call me a homer now BUT

Remember last season? well the jets are where we were, and guess what we pulled of a win vs NE at home, where do the jets get NE? where else but their home field, its a striking resemblance to our game w the pats last year

The Pats clinch the divison with a win or Miami loss. Because the Pats already have 4 division wins and the Dolphins can't get more than 3, the Pats have the tiebreaker. Therefore the only way to win the division is to win out and the Pats to lose out.

This is what hurts us.

Current Division Record:

Pats - 4-0
Fins - 1-3

If we win out(including the Pats game) we would finish 9-7 with a division record of 3-3.

If the Pats say beat the Bucs and lose to the Jets and lose to us and finish 9-7. They would go to the playoffs because their division record would be 4-1. No matter what happens, we can not have a better division record then them. That is the first tiebreaker for the playoffs.
