This is a curious business model the Miami Dolphins seem to have going here. Give them this much credit, at least. It is a bold and ground-breaking direction — one likely far too daring for other NFL teams to emulate.
The apparent strategy:
Get better by systematically getting rid of all of your best players.
Hey, it could prove to be a genius move. It could. Addition by subtraction, or something like that. Alas, until and unless it does prove to be a genius move, the Dolphins volunteer themselves as a laughingstock.

Won't be the first time we were a laughing stock I'm sure it won't be the last.

They already are a laughingstock. They'll just be a bigger laughingstock when these moves backfire.

Well, one thing is for sure. What the team has been doing for the last 20 years has not worked so why not try something different? Will it work? We don't know but what they were doing wasn't working and it was time for big changes.

Ozzy rules!!

How exactly can these moves backfire? Paying Landry would have been nuts, and Suh’s contract was ridiculous from the start. The other two cuts were no brainers. This team was going nowhere as it was constituted.

Now, could the team screw up the rebuilding? Of course, and there’s a good chance they will. Doesn’t mean it was wrong to try.

The plan was for these players to all be together with Ryan in 2017 and it failed when Tannehill went down. Cutler was brought in to save the plan as is. Didn’t quite go as planned. The new season brings a new plan. Suh, Pouncey, Wake, Tannehill, (Ajayi), Landry, all are or were in play to flip for 2018. It’s a business. This team does need to rebuild for the next run, as always, be it this year or next or a three year plan. There is never a four year plan. Get it done asap. 2017 is done. Get over that roster, it’s history. Hey, our team is churning and active and there is some movement and things happening worth tuning in for.

We are easily the biggest laughingstock right now in the NFL. What team is a bigger joke right now? I can only think of Indy.

idk about you guys but i was laughing pretty hard all last season....in between heavy sobs of course

for years we needed to just break it up and build a real team. Hoping they will build it the right way now. Thru the draft and without wasting money on big ticket free agents

Ozzy rules!!

Or another thought. We have been a laughing stock for the last 30 plus years, always believing we were just a player or two away.

Will this season be the start of a new and successful team, who knows. But what we do know was what we've been doing for a long, long, long time hasn't been working.
