Don't kill me... this is just a hypothetical. I know we have Tua under contract for one more year, and I am not saying Tua will -or even should- retire, but if he does, who do you want the dolphins to go after?

I set up the poll so you can choose up to two options. Feel free to let us know who you'd want the fins to pursue if you selected 'other'...

I would want Caleb Williams in 2024. To be honest, I want Caleb Williams regardless of what happens with Tua this offseason. The question would become, how do we get there? Personally, I think finding a trade partner for Tua (though I’m not sure what the compensation would be) and signing Brady for a year would be best, and hoping that the first pick in 2024 ends up belonging to a team that’s not in the market for a QB.

I love Tua as a person. I think he’s a good QB when healthy. I’ll always root for him to succeed. But the reality is, our franchise QB can’t be someone that’s guaranteed to miss games every season. Unfortunately we aren’t in the best spot to make a move to fix it.

Unfortunately I think you're right. He is either retiring or they are going to trade him. Hate it if he is having to retire.

I'm all for a short term signing a vet and drafting- we have Hill, Waddle, Mosert, Wilson, Armstead when healthy - this offense is a couple of lineman and a healthy, quality QB away from being top 5 - 10. Let's not waste Hill & Waddle!!

Dolphins first pick in the draft is #19-XX in the second round. So, pick 50 onward. They have two 3rd round picks, one from New England. No 4th or 5th round picks.

So, chances of moving up will be very tough, unless they want to deplete the 2024 draft picks.

I voted other, but I guess Carr on a non big contract wouldn't be a bad option.

Found an article at Joe Bucks (Tampa Bay fan site):

Brady-To-Dolphins Chatter Heats Up (Part II)

Tom Brady will be a free agent in 8 1/2 weeks and a few hits to the head of the Dolphins quarterback has sharpened the related speculation.
The folks who told the NFL world Brady to Miami with Sean Payton was a real thing last winter, ProFootballTalk.com (and many scoffed at the NBC report), went there again this morning.
Nothing concrete, just that a Brady move to Miami is “definitely on the table.”
For those unaware, the Dolphins were slapped with heavy penalties by the NFL for tampering with Brady and Sean Payton as they were under contract with their respective teams. But there was no ruling by the NFL that the Dolphins couldn’t do business with Brady or Payton.
Brady’s two youngest kids live in the Miami area, so it appears, and he has a home there. But perhaps more important to his decision is a powerful Dolphins offense and a fresh challenge.
Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa has had a string of concussions and will miss their playoff game this weekend.
Joe truly believes Brady hasn’t made a decision on his 2023 destination. So the Bucs remain in the running.

As far as Tua, we will learn more in the next few months as to whether he retires. If we cut him, we would incur 9 million dead cap hit and we are already 6 million above the salary cap. Trade him, not sure of who would want him with the medical issues. Teddy is not a reliable guy health wise but a great person and he cannot be retained playing behind Tua. I voted for Brady for the reasons I posted previous from the article. Brady could be a place holder for our 2024 draft where we can try to find another QB. The other option is Lamar Jackson who is not an unknown.

Odds are we will need to draft QB in back to back years, but we need more than 1 QB anyway.

Signing one of those vets would literally break the bank. We would lose players from other positions just to be able to stay under the cap.

Given that we have blundered our 1st round picks and really don't have much capital, I don't believe any of those QB's will get us to the Superbowl. Especially with all our problems on defense, special teams, and offensive line.

IF Tua retires, we would have lost our window with guys like Hill and Armstead. Perhaps the best course of the franchise may be to blow it up. Get rid of Chris Grier, collect as many picks as possible for a new GM. I still believe McDaniel has a lot to offer and will be a great Coach as he continues to learn. It was probably hard to make changes mid-season and with some many deficits due to injury. If there is a quality prospect QB in the second round then take that chance and find the young man an offensive line.

The thought of not having TUA for another year is disheartening.
