QB: Daunte Culpepper
RB: Ronnie Brown / Ricky Williams
TE: Randy McMichael
WR: Chris Chambers
WR: Chad Jackson or someone through free agency
WR: Marty Booker

That would be the most complete collection of offensive weapons for a Miami Dolphins team ever. Miami has never had that kind of explosive firepower across the board.

If Miami traded down to the last first like someone posted earlier today, would Moss be a reach there or not?

Just wondering, not trying to hijack your thread.

No, Moss is projected to go late first/early second...

I don't know, it would be close.

If we can get Chad Jackson, we should take him. Otherwise, trading down might be worth it, and just fill up the rest of our picks with best available athletes.

I know WR isn't a pressing need. But we're really one star WR away from having the most explosive offense across the board in Miami Dolphins history. If we landed Chad Jackson or a star free agent WR, the above lineup would be insane.

Chad Jackson would be sweet. Santonio Holmes wouldn't be bad either, but Chad is taller and has better hands.

Is Moss that good? All the draft boards say he is a big drop off from Jackson and Holmes, but I haven't seen him play so I really don't know.

I've watched a couple of his games and he looked pretty damn good. Almost as good as Santana, IMO. Some of the diehard U fans could tell you more, though.

1972 Dolphins.
QB: Bob Griese
RB: Larry Csonka, Mercury Morris, Jim Kiick
TE: Jim Mandich
WR: Paul Warfield, Howard Twilley, Marlin Briscoe

Add in an O-line with 2 HoFers (Langer, Little) and another who should be in the Hof (Kuechenberg).

I'd give the current Dolphins an advantage at QB providing DC is fully healthy and TE.
At RB the 72 Dolphins have the advantage.
Paul Warfield is the most explosive WR in NFL history, averaging 20 yards/reception and a TD every 5 receptions, so you have to give the '72 Dolphins the advantage there.

By my reckoning a slight advantage to the 72 Dolphins at the skill positions, but even if I'm wrong the O-Line gives the 72 Dolphins the advantage.

Great post! I agree and this will help our defense out as well, as they won't be on the field as much. Whether in the draft or free agency, adding another quality WR with Mularky could be dangerous for opposing defenses.

In 1972, Griese had a 71 passer rating, Warfield only had 606 yards, and the team averaged 27.5 pts per game. It was a dominating, ball control offense. But I don't think 27.5 pts per game can be considered "explosive".

The thing about Jackson that worries me is his YAC. The guy has great measureables and I'll think he'll be a good player, but he's just not explosive after the catch. Now, Holmes is a big play guy with 11tds last year. I'm not all for drafting a wr with #16 but if we do, I like Holmes by a hair.

either jackson or holmes would be great!!! but the denver broncos, and the philadelphia eagles draft right in front of us...unless one of them scoop a running back (both have needs), then we might as well slip down to like #25 and scoop moss.....

that is unless we go defense with that 16th pick...

you never know..
