Gholston is faster than Chris Long...Gholston runs a 4.6,Long runs a 4.8

Gholston is stronger than Long

Gholston is a better tackler than Long

Gholston is a better size than Long....6'5"...Long Is 6'4"

Gholston is lighter than Long....264...Long is 270+

Not to mention Gholston was the number 1 DE/OLB coming out until he was shutdown in the BCS National Title Game...

Long has a better motor

Long has better intellegence

Long has better technique

Bottom Line,I dont care what you all think,I was going for a DE/OLB with the first pick,i would take Gholston over Long any day:woot:

Because he is toooooo small to play DE at a 3-4 defense. you have to weight around 285-295. he weight 260! he'd have to play OLB so we wouldnt be draft a DE we'd be drafting a OLB and he wouldnt be as effective ad DE. he'd have to fall back in coverage and that isnt his strong suite

tell that to D.Freeney!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Freeney is 6-1 260 and he is a Pro-Bowl DE

Vernon is 6-5 260...whats your point??????????????

Gholston WAS not shutdown in the BCS game. He drove back Tackles like they were nothing. The problem was the Secondary didn't do their job.

I'm Bias when I say I like Gholston over Long.

I know miami isnt use to running a 3-4 so you probably are that familiar with 3-4 defense but...
colts DO NOT RUNS A 3-4 defense. in a 3-4 D you have to have bigger lineman because there is only 3 instead of 4 lineman (4-3)

First off I have to argue your points because some are incorrect and some just don't make sense.

1.) What are you basing your strength on...sure gholston is a freak of nature and looks like a body builder. But Long has 20 pounds on him.

2.) How do you figure that Gholston is a better tackler, you even say later that Long has the better technique.

3.) Your heights are incorrect, or at least Gholston's is he is actually 6'4''

4.) As a positive for Gholston you state that he is smaller? How does that benefit him?

5.) Gholston was never the number one DE coming out.

Although I really like Gholston a lot it seems like you put down wrong facts to prove your point. I'm not a fan of that. Plus you know what you're getting with Long, whereas Gholston really has to prove his athleticism at the combine and pro days. He is gonna be a blitzing linebacker, but he still has to prove he can do the other requirements of a linebacker. I think Gholston is the sexier pick and maybe someday will be the better one, but Long sure does have a lot more consistent look to him.

I feel Gholston has more potential at LB than Long. Thats just me though.

well in a 4-3 defense its close between gholston and long but in a 3-4 there is not question, its long...

oh by the way my College team is OHIO ST. ya.. im a die heart buckeye fan. im from fremont, ohio and have always love hio st and yes im saying long is better than ghloston. i dont care about bias....i just want the players thqat is gonna help us win more...even if they are from d-2 schools if they give us the best chance to win

I watched the game live all the way through once, and then about 4 or 5 times while focusing on LSU's defense. More specifically, Glenn Dorsey. So, I can't say I've ever really watched Gholston play. A few times, however, I noticed him explode into the backfield only to get caught flatfooted. My question to you, is this guy a "football player" or more of an athlete who used his strength/speed to bully college players? Does he have a lot of rough edges?

that is a good question and he has a big question mark on him and shouldnt be take #1 with that big of a ?. i think he will be a good pro only if he can play DE in a 4-3. i dont see him acceling as OLB as much
