You just went through hiring a big-time college coach who went running back to the college game for less money.

Now, you want to talk to and possibly hire the "same type" of guy.

Are you kidding me????? You wouldn't do this kind of business move or strategy if this were BLOCKBUSTER or one of your garbage companies. Caroll isn't the fit this team needs right now! I can't believe he is even being considered!

I'm not saying I want him but you can't consider him a "college coach". He has plenty of NFL time under his belt. Carroll would be nothing like pulling a Saban into the NFL.

Saban was a long time NFL assistant. He wasnt an all college guy either.

Im sure no one said anything about Saban when he was being rumored for the job.

It's exactly the same. Guy who has had all of his success on the college level now going to the NFL.

Once the first signs of failure in the NFL show, he will run back to college and not to mention, from the day he accepts an NFL job, every major college team with an opening will be throwing $$$$$$$$$$$$$ in his face trying to get him to jump.

Again, I'm not advocating we get him.
I'm not excited about him at all.
However, the guy has been an NFL HC and had NFL Asst. time. He's far more polished in the NFL than the avg. College HC people are against considering.

That's all I'm saying.

We know what your saying and your wrong.

He will go running back to the college game first chance he gets like all of hte others. Spurrier, Saban....etc. A big job will become open (FSU, Penn St, ...etc) and then all of a sudden his name will be linked to it. Then a billion dollars will be on the table, then boom.......he's gone for the easy college lifestyle.

Been there done that. If Wayne even entertains this he is a moron!
 
Carroll was horrible as coach in the NFL for the Patsies. He is the epitome of a college coach. Please don't do it Wayne.
 
I dont want him but unlike Saban he has pro experience as a head coach. He's a little too goofy for me. Not exactly the most profound of criticisms but I want my coaches to be a little mean and hardcore

he is wrong that caroll does not have more NFL experience than most college coach names out there?

he's wrong in thinking carrol won't bolt back to the college ranks and leave us high and dry like Saban. To think otherwise is foolish.

And Gaily is a college coach with a ton of NFL experience, and I don't want him either!
 
I define college coach as either a guy who has really only been a college guy and came to the NFL like Spurrier, or a guy who excells in college but not in the pros, like Pete Carroll.

Why do i think this way? Because hes a guy who built his rep in the NCAA. By wanting his as coach I assume you are looking at what he did at USC rather than the NFL, thus-college coach.

Sorry MikeO but Trekbiz makes a good point.... and you are the one that is wrong. Considering the fact that Pete has been an NFL HC for sometime already should eliminate him from being remotely compared to a douche like Saban. I doubt Pete will be the next coach here and I completely agree that we need to look for a NFL coach not a NCAA/wannabe NFL coach.... I wouldnt mind having Pete as our coach but it prolly wont happen.
