If we sign Brees, is Frerotte gone?

If we finally get our man in Drew Brees, do we cut Frerotte? Or do we see if he'll take a paycut to be the backup?

Brees? Cut him. McCown? Keep him.

He's not going to agree to take a pay cut big enough to make sense for the Dolphins to keep him on the bench.
 
I don't think we'd just cut him that fast tho is posible but if Brees shows that he's healthy then Gus is probably gone and don't be surprised if we still draft a QB but it'd be on day 2.

Gus is only here to be a starter.
Did you hear him say he'd retire if another QB was brought in?

I'm not so sure the Lemon will stay around. We have no idea what he can do...I'd be a lot more comfortable with Sage backing up. But I guess Sage wants to move on...

I would have said a resounding immediate yes !, but with his injury IF Gus re-signs at backup pay, he may stay because of doubts of Brees torn labrum.....While it is expected to fully heal, he has to give it the time it needs to heal and can't rush it back or possibly do more damage to the shoulder...

So, I suspect that IF we sign Brees, and IF Gus takes backup pay yes, he'll stay...
 
If we sign Brees or Culpepper I think Gus will see the handwriting on the wall and look for a team where he has a better chance of starting.If he cant find one he would have to sign for backup QB money with the Dolphins.
 
IF we sign a "Brees" level QB ..... then yes, GUS is gone ...

We won't invest 8 MIL in QB play .... GUS would have to take more than a 'pay cut' .... he would have to play for about 1 MIL in order to stay on ...

Could he do that ... sure - but not likely ...

That 'could' be where a "Couch" comes in .....
