Reality is that if Beck or Henne does not become a good or great qb the fins will struggle like hell to win games,so I say the fins should give these qb's atleast two season's but if they don't improve I say the fins should try to get the best qb on the free agent market.

The best QB's have a great line in front of them. We finally have what could be a great line.

What about Trent Dilfer with the Ravens? I wouldn't ever consider him a good to great QB and they won the superbowl.

you become great with an o line perfect example joe montana and tom brady

Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer, I dont think Eli was considered Great until hsi win in the SB last year, in fact many were disappointed up until then.
Hell i dont even remember the name of the Bucs QB when we won the SB and I LIVE in Tampa..oh Yeah Brad Johnson.

Great is not needed, good with a good oline and running game along with a stiff defense will do the trick!

If it were up to you, you would have selected Matt Ryan. And you would have gone down in flames with Matt Ryan too.

Franchise QB's never hit the open market unless their used-up.
See Montana with the Chiefs.

You want a franchize QB who can win consistly in the playoffs?
Draft one.

Exactly! I agree completely.

Good points....but the Ravens, Bucs, and Giants all won with more than STIFF defense...That Ravens defense will go down as TOP 5 all time...The Buc D arguably was tip top that year...and well we saw the well above average play of the Giants defense in the playoffs...these defenses setup for great average starting field position that any average (i.e. Johnson, Dilfer, Eli) NFL Playoff QB should be able to handle....It was the defense for the most part that got these team championships....With all that said 90% of the time the GREAT QB (McNabb, Garcia, Gerrard, Romo) will get u VERY far in this league and should be the teams number one priority. The 10% includes the greatest of all time...Ill let u guess who...

True, but he said great quarterbacks usually have the best record. Not great teams have great quarterbacks.

First of all, thanks for letting us know that good QB's are needed. That's a new one, most people don't think that the leader of an offense needs to be good. Truly enlightening. :foundout:

Secondly, how often do you see a good QB hit FA? In case you haven't noticed (hard to believe you wouldn't pick up on something obvious), we have tried to acquire QBs via FA/trade. Feeley, Culpepper, Harrington, Lemon, Frerotte. Newsflash! that doesn't work.

How often do you see good QBs available? I can count ONCE in recent memory....Drew Brees. Maybe the Saints will release him. Not that it would matter, we would pass on him a third time...

I think Dilfer was a good QB. Kept mistakes to a minimum to get that defense to win. (like Simms on the Giants)

As for our QB situation, I feel better than I have in years. 2 young prospects, and a vet that never got a chance. Let them fight it out.

ears wasn't a great qb but we made it to the playoffs with him. our qb's biggest problems the last couple yrs have been standing but i believe we are recifying the situation. lets keep our qb standing upright longer than 2 seconds first before we do something foolish like trading a #1 for mcnaab or derek anderson.
