For everyone that is upset about the signing of Green and mad we didn't sign Mcfadden, Bodden, or Mcallister here's your answer. I was just as mad also UNTIL I found out the reason we signed Green. They wouldn't garantee any of the CB's a starting job because they want them to compete with Jason Allen. It wasn't as much about the money as we thought. That give me more respect for Green because he was the only one that is not afraid to compete for the job. Also I am starting to feel good about Allen, maybe just maybe he will pull this off and become what was expected of him when we drafted him. Hopefully this will help with how everyone feels about the signing.

I'm not sure I agree with the fact that Green was the only one "willing" to compete for a starting position... I think Green knew this was his best opportunity to start, but the other free-agent CB's felt they already deserved to start as opposed to being scared of competing against Jason Allen

I truly hope Jason Allen starts and get's in to a rhythm to show us what he can do

I am not about to judge someone I know nothing about. This signing reminds me of when we signed Goodman. Not alot of love but still made good enough plays. The key for Green will be learning the system and communicating with his new cohorts. He will have his occasional bad play, but so did most of our guys last year early on. Then all of a sudden, the Denver game we started to see great things.

We get a great pass rush, and our CB problem will not be that big.

Well, they have been saying that "competition brings out the best in players" and it seems that's exactly what they're trying to do here.

I hope you are right - because I think that Eric "Burnt Toast" Green could be a nightmare waiting to happen :(

I'm a big Jason Allen fan since we got him, I feel that he has gone through alot of things since he's been here , when we drafted him he had health issues to overcome then there has been 3 coaching changes in the very little time he's been here BUT all 3 coaches kept him on the 53 man roster so the kid must have game, I truly belive that he is finally now has the right system and coach to show his talents and we saw it last year, he's athletic , aggressive and big and I feel he will impress alot of fans next year when he lines on the other side of Will.

Eric Green could be the starting corner but.... Jason Allen has the tools to become a lockdown corner in this league, he has size, speed, athletic ability... and Todd Bowles will bring the best out of all of our DB's..IMHO he is the best secondary coach in this league..
so well see

anyone who is scared to compete against Jason Allen shouldn't have been signed anyway.

If I remember right, Jason Allen didn't do too good last year. He was especially awful in preseason.

Jason Allen obviously is heading into a season of high expectations. He is the only CB on the roster with the tools & physicality to be a ShutDown corner.
Should be interesting to see if he finally comes through after a less than stellar start with the Miami Dolphins.:D

my money is on Jason

We don't even know the contract details yet so its hard to say it wasn't about money.

Regardless, from what I have seen and read on Green; he is average at the very best. He also has the reputation of giving up the big play. He seems to be a down grade from Goodman.

Just asking but...

I was only able to see pieces and parts of the Superbowl but was it Green that gave up the winning touchdown in the superbowl? Also is he any relation to the Green we had at TE years ago wasnt it also ERIC GREEN. Real big legs came from the Steelers could run but catch an occasional pass and good blocker. Ended career with drugs and etc...
