WELL guys 5 more days until draft day and i have been pontificating our options and i am not sure which options would be best. here is what is on my mind. if quinn gets taken and then stanton (who i am not high on) is taken we may have to ponder the option of moving up or down to get our qb but here is what i have been pondering.
#1 do we get a ot or a te olsen or lb patrick willis and we go after kolb or beck ? if we cant get these three qbs then we should take qb troy smith or jeff rowe or zach taylor . it looks like we could miss out on the better qbs if we dont watch out.

#2 what would be so wrong with getting patrick willis in rd 1 then in rd 2 we take wr sidney rice and with our later 2 nd round pick we take kolb regardless if is a little high to pick him. then we take a lt and a center then take 2 rbs to beef up our underacheiving runningback corp.

i still like marshal yanda , and kalil and wr craig davis and they said that ot corry hilliard has good instincts and can be coached up so he is a bargin even if we get him for depth.

#3 we could have s.d. peterson fall to us and picking up peterson might save our bacon if ronnie and ricky both flake out on us.
the bottom line we need firepower and it doesnt matter when get a guy as long as he can help us . those brownie points everybody keeps talking about is why took eddie moore and wade smith and jamar fletcher .

Because we need an offense much more than we need a defense right now. Hence our 1st pick should absolutely go to either a OL or a QB and our 2nd pick go to either OL or QB. Im sick of having a lower end offense every year and our defense is a SHUT DOWN defense as it stands right now...We have far more glaring needs than at linebacker...I really dont understand why some of you guys are reluctant to understand or see this.

Yeah, we have far more depth at linebacker and safety than we do at OL and QB, so lets draft a linebacker or a safety and just ignore what we NEED :shakeno:

#1 - Olsen is definite reach at #9. A need, but a serious reach. Willis is the best LB in the draft, but is much better suited to the WLB in the Tampa 2 (ala Derrick Brooks, Lance Briggs, etc) rather than the D that we play (3-4/4-3 hybrid, even less of a fit if we continue to move more towards a 3-4 all the time as has been rumored...Willis might be a slight reach at #9 anyway, depending on who is still on the board at that time. His position is certainly not one of our primary needs, but the only significance to that would be that there are some other players who would be available at #9 that also fit a higher need.

#2 - Latest reports show Kolb much closer to round one and given the number of teams looking for QBs, won't be there at #60...Perhaps one of Stanton, Kolb, Edwards, Beck and even Zabransky would be there. Smith, Rowe and Taylor look to be day two guys... I wouldn't be upset to see us draft another WR and Rice could be there at #60...but if not there are a few that could fill the need. I'd rather see us take a DB in the late 2nd, provided the QB issue is resolved.

#3 - Take Peterson as insurance on Brown and Williams ?? What is that ?? Sounds like too many brownies for you... Better take Carriker in case JT gets real old real fast...while your at it, lets take an OLB in case Porter is suspended....You can't work your draft on "what ifs" unless you already have your core in place...we have too many needs to not go for need (after round one). Now, Peterson may be there for us to take and if we can't move down, then it's possible that they take him, but that would be the end of RW here in Miami for sure. I don't think we have to worry about Brown flaking out on us.

If you're saying that we should take the BPA whether that is a need position or not, I can't argue too much. The thing is, more than likely, we'll be able to get a combination of both at #9. If Quinn is there, there is no doubt that our card will have his name on it. If not, then there will be a choice of 2-3 quality guys that fit a need better than the guys you mentioned...

if we have to go defense with the 1st pick then i go Okoye. if washington does not grab him. Willis would be great too, especially because Buffalo wants him.

definately if no Quinn, we need a QB in the 2nd round. i like Ryan Harris from Notre Dame in the 4th round too.

I think it comes down to NEEDS more than just grabbing the BPA. Our main need I think is at QB, so we should do whatever we can to get Quinn, as long as it would not cost us a bunch of picks. If Quinn is gone, I think we have to take Levi Brown. I would try to grab a QB like Beck or Kolb in the 2nd, if we miss out on Quinn. If we get Quinn, then my first second rounder would be Kalil, USC's Center if he is still there. From Round 3 onward we just fill in the pieces.

My sentiments exactly. I heard a report a couple weeks ago on sirius that fi you go BPA every year you should do ok...In some instances this may be a correct assumption, however, is more incorrect than correct. For example Detriot. They obvious took the BPA's when they drafted 3 WR and A RB in recent years with their first picks...It doesnt seem to be working out so well for them...We 100% must draft NEED which clearly is OL and QB with our 1st picks...Anything else is lunacy (Of course given our picks are there when we pick them) For example: If Quinn is gone and Brown, Landry, Willis is still on the board our obvious pick should be Brown 100%

Roman, I don't completely disagree, but Mueller has already stated that he'll go BPA. But as I said above, I think at #9, we have some options that fill both need and BPA...
