There is no way anyone can blame Penny for this loss. After last week I was head of the start Henne bandwagon, but last night Penny played a very good game. This loss falls directly on a poor tackling defense and some questionable play calling at the end. I know Ginn dropped a ball that he should have caught, but the defense really let us down last night.

He missed fasano by an inch on that TD try. His part in the 2 min drive was horrible too.

Besides that, he was good. 1 of the 2 Ginn TD throws should have been caught, if not both.

agreed. i really think individuals lost the game, like wilson, ginn(to some degree, not all his fault), Carpenter(missed FG) etc, but NOT chad. he played very solidly and if Ginn and Fasano had caught the ball he could have had two to three TDs!!! i really think we should start Henne only when the season is gone, but no sooner.

Completely agree with you on the D blowing the game, but I'd like to make just a few comments regarding Pennington.

I AM generally a Penny apologist, but I have concerns about what transpired last night. Not his play - his shortcomings on the field throws were there as usual, and his money throws were on target as usual.

But what I noticed was that he was completely missing that fire last night, particularly on the last drive. Where was the confidence from last season? He had this wide-eyed scared look in his eyes and that really scared the bejeezus out of me, and that was when I knew we wouldn't drive down for the win. Last season, those eyes would be on fire, and he'd be telling his guys they were going to drive down for the win.

To me, this signals something is going on behind the scenes. Maybe the lockerroom is not as behind him as they were last year. Maybe, just like fans are divided on Henne starting, the players are too. I did not believe it, but maybe there is some truth to the rumors swirling about a QB change. Maybe it's coming from the man upstairs. Because Penny, in that last drive, looked like a guy who was shaken and paralyzed by a lack of confidence. And knowing what we know about him, I think it would take more than 2 bad games to do that to him.

He was still good enough to put us in position for the win at the end. I'm not at all knocking his play...just concerned by some subtleties I noticed.

Cuz Pat White messes up the rhythm.
