I’m Ready to Move On From Waddle

The 2 problems I have/had with Waddle is: 1) we traded up to take him and 2) we should have drafted Sewell like many of us wanted. No one will ever convince me taking a small WR over a generational talent at OT makes any sense. Paul, Brewer and Sewell would be the core of one of the best OL’s in the NFL.

The problem with Griers drafting in 2020-2021 wasn’t that he missed so much, which he definitely missed, but rather that made so many suboptimal decisions with better players available which is why the rebuild completely failed.

Revisiting this: I would trade Waddle in the offseason to the highest bidder, regardless of the offer, and regardless of what team makes that offer.

If the highest offer is a 2nd or 3rd round pick I’ll take it. I’d rather draft multiple receivers in this really good WR class and move forward.

Waddle consistently underperforms and is always banged up. Always liked him (although I didn’t want to trade down — wanted Chase, and when we did trade down, I wanted Smith over Waddle) but I’m over it. Next year is a wash, team is guaranteed to be awful, and he’s already 27 making WR1 money when he’s clearly NOT a WR1. I’d prefer to move him now.

I’m tired of this guy. He ain’t it and wasn’t worth two 1st rd picks to draft. Please trade him this offseason
He is a very nice #2 for a quality organization.

We need to dump Tua, Hill and others first.

There is this thing called a salary cap.

Also there is the concept called Sunk Costs.

Too many fans worried about what guys are getting paid and what draft capital was spent

Thats his base salary, his CAP number is around $11 million next year. In 27, it jumps to 33mil and in 28 that number goes to 37 mil. He also has a void year in 29 for like 9 mil thanks to the gift that keeps on giving in Chris Grier.

You think that low number, next year, is going to help this team reach the playoffs?

I don't know about you, but thats a lot of cheddar tied up in 27and 28 to pay a #2 Wr who drops a lot of balls for what he will get paid and is always dinged up. He for his size is also not much of a threat in the red zone, nor do i think he blocks all that well for the money he will eventually be paid.

I’d move on from him, if i could get a late 1st or even an early 2nd rounder this offseason.
Ok let’s keep him one more year

I have mixed feeling about keeping Waddle or not. Good number 2 to have but he does seem to miss a few games and drops crucial catches a bit too often.

I think sooner or later, we are all going to be forced to move on, from the whole organization, not just one particular player or coach.

When’s the last time Waddle was actually a big part of the reason Miami won a game?
You could say that about the passing game in general. We've seen what Waddle can do with a functional QB. He can't throw it to himself.

He wasn't worth 2 picks, he wasn't my choice over Chase or Sewell or even Smith, and he isn't as big as I like, but none of that is his fault. He is ours, and to blame him for our struggles is mad. The fact is that he finished about 35 yards behind OJ McDuffie for #5 on our franchise all-time list, and about 40 catches out of our top 4. He has demonstrated that he can produce big in a competent offense. On a team with so many flaws, it is truly odd to single out Waddle.

Waddle seems like a great guy, someone you want in the locker room, team player, etc.. My main issue with him is "and Waddle is slow to get up..." CONSTANTLY.. Dude cannot take a hit. It seems like the first time he gets tackled in every game. I'm exaggerating (barely).
