I’m Ready to Move On From Waddle

He is a little better Ted Ginn. Soft as charmin. I am sure he has a lovely family too.

We need Waddle.. Ross breaking down doing his celebration is the only way he can transfer ownership to his daughter. Who can then sell the team or getting more involved like the colts owners.

He's only got $16m guaranteed for 2026 with $0 guaranteed beyond that. We're really only on the hook for his bonuses. He's middle of the road salary wise for the position. The contract is workable on both a restructure or trade scenario.

Well he's not middle of the road salary wise, and that's the point. He's middle of the road for the elite veterans at his position. Depending on how you want to define these things you could say there are somewhere between 20 and 30 of these guys in the league. If you look at Waddle salary wise and production wise he is middle of the road in that group.

The point is that at any given point in time an NFL team can only carry a finite number of highly paid players. And if those guys are average you're team typically isn't going anywhere. You can swing and miss and survive, but you better be getting that top level production from most of them. I would argue that Waddle is a good player, and paying good players comparable contracts to those who are great is how bad franchises stay downtrodden.

I'm curious if buffalo offered the same trade for Waddle what JES would do. My guess is we'd be looking forward, very much, to the 2027 draft.

Problem is Waddle did absolutely nothing to Garner the same type of trade or better. Oh well
