I'm satisfied except for 1 major disapointment

Overall good game, brett got stupid/lucky/legendary again today and scored one on us but hey... that's football

Our offence showed disapointments (running game i.e.) and some major surprises (great GREAT game M.Fasano and M.Martin) and the overrall performance of this unit was what i was expecting ( i predicted 16 points, they went 2 points short lol)

through the season they'll gel together and become a much better unit, but the one thing that bothers me right now that has nothing to do with this unit's performance, it is a player's performance ... Jake Long

2 penalties and he has had problems out there, some other linemen struggled too but i noticed Jake being the weakest link out there and i really didn't enjoy this. It's WAYYYYYYYYY (...) YYYYY too early to say he's not worth the pick and balblalbalba because he'll learn with playing time, but his first start wasn't a good one at all
 
to be fair, one of the penalites was pretty crafty. tripping the DE was a vet move. Most vets dont get that called on them.
 
I wasnt impressed with Jake Long today at all. He didnt look good hopefully he will improve it was only his first game. Still with the first pick in the draft it would just feel better if he didnt look so bad.
 
jake long played well today... not bad for a rookie against the likes of calvin pace.. i give him a b.. didnt allow any sacks, and he saved a play with a penalty

Have to disagree completly here, most of the pressure came from the right side of the line, you cant blame Long for what happens on the other side. Yeah he got called for holding and tripping but the trip was something that usually goes by without being called and EVERY lineman holds, its just who gets called. He got beat a couple times on the outside when the Jets blitzed the OLB with no one in the backfield so theres room for improvement, just remember its his first regular season game.
 
Yeah a great game from our guys....we played with passion and intensity they broght pressure and jake had two guy coming at him all day so get off his back
 
Wow, I thought Long looked pretty good for his first game. The penalties suck, but both were kind of unfortunate . . . no false starts. The jets were bringing all kinds of pressure and tho Jake got pushed back on occassion, he really didn't let anybody by. I thought him and Carey played quite well in the pass pro game . . . where we had problems were up the middle and the backs whiffed a few times today as well.

Jake IMO had a good first game.
 
Personally, I think Smiley got beat just as much...that left side needs to be worked up.
 
I am a little curious about the play calling.....was it just me or were there way too many play actions on 3rd and longs?
Why wait so long to get into the shotgun? Don't know much about dan henning, but the playcalling at times just seemed strange.
