...given the delay in announcing anything, Miami actually has the best offer on the table for Culpepper, but that it may be contingent on whether Brees gets out of New Orleans today without being signed.

At this point Minnesota can wait the extra day or so and take the better offer if it's there for them. If Miami can get Brees under contract then Minny takes the lesser offer from the other team.

On ESPN News said the vikings are asking for a second round pick for Culpepper, that's why the Raiders back off.

I'm starting to believe thats the case since we are not hearing any new information about the possible trade.

thats a good point but i don't think saban is giving up a draft choice this year...i think it'll be a conditional pick next year...

Nick Saban likes his draft picks, I doubt he would give up a draft pick for a player unless they give him a higher draft pick. He already said he likes to build from the draft.

Everybody backed away, but Clayton said the Titans may sneak in under the radar and grab Culpepper for that 2nd round pick they're seeking....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Well it seems somebody is trying to be funny and giving 1 star ratings to just about every thread. :shakeno:

As for this thread, all I can say is..who knows anymore. There are so many condlicting reports out there that I've just given up. One thing's for sure...the Culpepper news has seemed to slow down a bit, I'm guessing Minny was asking for too much and nobody bit.

I just can't see Saban giving up a precious 2nd round draft pick for a player, especially when we don't have any picks in the 5th & 6th rounds.

I dont know who is doing that. I've been responsible for most of the 1-star votes up until today, but to be honest, most of those threads were terrible. I think someone is just bitter they made a bad thread.

yet he packaged a draft pick just to get rid of Feeley......yeah, Saban would NEVER trade a draft pick. :shakeno:

Daunte Culpepper is well worth a 2nd round pick, even if he never regains the ability to be a threat on designed running plays. He's a top 5 quarterback at his best.

Can you think of any 2nd round pick quarterbacks in the last decade as good as Culpepper?

I don't see him trading a 2006 2nd round pick either......but I could see a conditional 2007 pick.

Culpepper at best is a second round QB. I question his ability to read a defence.

For all but last season in Minni he looked week in and week out at the cover 2 defence. Reason, if a team didn't double Randy they were going to get beat and beat badly.

Last year teams were able to throw the kitchen sink at him and look what happened.

the simple answer for most around here (myself NOT included) is Drew Brees.

but don't forget, you can't just judge him against 2nd round QB's....because we could pick any position with that pick....so you have to look at players like Chad Johnson and Patrick Surtain, LeCharles Bentley, Clinton Portis, Kris Jenkins, Chris Chambers, Sam Madison, etc.

of course you could also judge him against Quinton Caver, Michael Stone, Tony Dixon etc.....

If I were making the decisions, I would have traded a 2nd rounder fo r him as soon as I got a positive medical report.....but I likely would have overpaid seeing that no other teams are stepping up to that price.
