I'm a fan of Ricky's, even after the whole stunt, and I'm against trading him in all scenarios because I think he's the X-factor that makes the Dolphins really tough for the next 2-4 years. But, the fact that everyone else seems to love him is a little boggling to me...why is it that you all love Ricky so much?

I like him as much because he takes the pressure off of Ronnie. Ricky can have 10-12 carries a game for 45 yards, 4 catches for 24 yards, and a TD, and Ronnie can have 20 carries for 135 yards, 4 catches for 24 yards, and a TD. It's the balance that's gonna make the Dolphins dangerous the next few years.

What do you say?

The love for Ricky is over his change is persona and maybe maturity. He has come back for his incident and has become a model citizen.

weeellll when i was younger and ricky first came to the phins i was a huge fan mostly because of his sweeetttt mirrored visor...it also helps that he's incredibly talented. he also seems like he's different than most athletes; more thoughtful and whatnot

Because he is good.....If Ricky was ..say average he would have to be escorted to the state line by troops. He inspires hope that one day we might get back and possibly win a SB. Could you imagine if Lamar Gordon had the same attitude as Ricky, do you think we would be as forgiving?

I love him because he was so awesome in college and he was the best running back ever to come out of the draft and Ditka gave his whole draft away for him. And he looked so awesome in New Orleans. And because God blessed him with such talent and skills so he could be a RB. And then Miami got him then I really loved him. I guess being a long time Dolphins fan and loving Larry Csonka..it was like having Zonk back again. And I love his personality. The guy is the best pure runningback of all time.

Ricky is the back who stays healthy all season give ronnie and ricky the same # of carries and ill take ricky every time:dolphins:

Ricky has the love on this site cuz of a great year he had if he didnt have a good year there wouldn be love

I think alot of people still loved him even after he quit.

i'm more surprised at the amount of posts that seem to imply that Ronnie has to be awful in order for Ricky to still be great.they're both great RB's and there's no reason that they can't both be great AND on the same team.

after watching the Dolphins all season,it didn't seem that Linehan involved either of them in the gameplan as much as they should've been.

it actually reminded me alot of 2003 when Ronnie and Carnell shared the backfield.instead of putting them in the backfield together, the OC at the time rotated them at HB every other series and neither of them could really get into a groove.

the next year we got a new OC and he used Ronnie as the FB when Carnell was in there and utilized his hands as a WR and blocking skills to their fullest and when Carnell needed a breather,Ronnie would slide over to HB.

i was hoping to see Linehan use Ronnie and Ricky in a similar way this season when Ricky came back.and to be honest,i think that Saban was too.

I think its hard to hate a guy who obviously has problems that is at least trying and he is not getting in trouble for beating his wife or beating people up. I can forgive a guy with a genuine everyday problem and trying to deal with a disorder much easier than a guy like Cecil Collins who genuinely problematic or even a guy like najeh Davenport.

Good point...and what pisses me off about Cecil is that even Marino believed he was going to give him one more Superbowl run. I'm not sure Ricky views the Marijuna as a problem though. Either way, he prvoed himself this season.

I don't know about all you guyz, but I'm gonna be honest and say that I personally didn't think he'd have such a great season as he did.....More Power to you RW!!

Yes the Ricky support seems a little flip floppy from the summer of 04. For me I just don't forgive well, and yes yes I know Ricky doesn't need my forgiveness. I could care less if he wants to smoke a dobbie once and a while. Actually I have all the respect in world for him if he was able to put up those numbers in 2002 & 03 while smoking. And it's not that he retired, hey pro football is brutal especially for RB's. It was the timing and the double talk that caused my loss of respect for Ricky. I get too many carries, our lines no good, I don't make enough money. Fooey, just come out like a man and admit you got caught 3 times and this is the right move for me personally right now. The timing of his retirement was obviously because of the failed test but that really cut deep. I know his teamates have supported him and done the right thing but for me, talent yes without a doubt, reliable no, selfish, well just ask the 3 or 4 women he has kids with. The next Shawn Kemp ? Probably. If he's here I'll cheer for him, but I'd just as soon get a QB for him.

Ricky has made many mistakes but if a former coke head can be president then Ricky can be our runningback.
