If Daunte Culpepper went to another team now that he's finally 100% healthy (for the first time in 2 times years), I believe Dolphins fans would regret it more than passing on Drew Brees.
Many fans believe Daunte Culpepper can not make quick reads. This simply isn't true. If you go back and watch him play, you will notice that Culpepper often makes quick and accurate throws. And now that he's 100% healthy, Culpepper's scrambling ability will help him to avoid the blitz.
He has a rare talent in that he can get creative with his feet to create something with his arm. And he has one of the highest completion percentages in the history of the NFL. Also, his YPA is among the league's best.
Culpepper has averaged a staggering TWO TDs per GAME over his career. Think about it: He can, on average, be counted on to score twice every game.
Culpepper has a strong arm and is a physically imposing guy. It doesn't hurt to keep him around for at least one more season to see what he is capable of now that he's 100% healthy. It's extremely unlikely that the Fins will pick up a QB in the 1st round as the two best prospects, Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Russell, will most likely be gone by the time the Fins pick. I wouldn't be surprised if Cameron pushes for a QB in the 2nd round. If Randy Mueller agrees, then we're looking at a rookie QB who will need time to develop.
There have been some folks who assume Culpepper will have limited mobility now, and will never be a Pro Bowl caliber QB again. The fact is the only person who knows how good Culpepper can and will be again... is Culpepper.
Cam Cameron helped Antwaan Randle El become Indiana's best QB since Trent Green. Randle El and Culpepper have very similar playing styles. With Cameron as his head coach, Culpepper will only improve.
And by the way, for all those Brees fans... Guess what Drew Brees and Daunte Culpepper have in common? Neither of them is going to the Super Bowl this year!
