I watched the Gators walk all over the Buckeyes in the championship game. It shook a few notions I held regarding talent on both sides of the ball.

1. Troy Smith is very difficult to evaluate now. I originally supported him because of his arm strength, decision making and mobility. He seemed very ordinary in the face of a speedy pass rush and without his #1 WR. One game hardly defines a career but the Gator defense reflects more accurately what he'll face in the NFL. Makes me a little nervous

2. Ted Ginn, Jr. has NFL speed. He doesn't run the best routes but he definitely could make an impact as a returner. I wonder if his body will hold up in the NFL.

3. The overall team speed of the Gator Defense makes every single member appear very attractive to teams drafting in the later rounds. Remember the names Earl Everett(LB) and Ray McDonald(DT).

4. I don't think Chris Leak has the physical ability to start in the NFL but he'll definitely make a great #2.

Your thoughts?

You hit everything pretty much on the head but I would add...Ray McDonald showed that he does have the strength to play with the big boys.

troy smith really sucked in this game he would likely be a 2 round or 3
but still he has 30 td 6 int it is still impresive if we cant get a qb in the first
we should get troy in 2 or 3

I thought Smith made some poor decisions, obviously, when he was pressured by UF's defense. Many times he could have stepped up to miss the pass rush, but he scrambled 10 yards back and took a sack or threw into coverage. This game will push his draft position back imo.

Ted Ginn Jr showed he can be explosive when the ball is in his hands, but as you mentioned 3003, his durability could be an issue.

The Gators looked good all around, but I think OSU's very poor play helped them a lot. The speed of UF and the play calling on their D ran circles around OSU. Other than Ginn's run back, the Buckeyes didn't show up last night.

With his height concerns, I'm guessing he's a 4th-5th rd pick.

everett and mcdonald won't last to the "later rounds"...i hope we consider drafting everett in the 2nd or 3rd rnd...he is amazing...lots of speed and the frame to bulk up.

Chris leak looked like Tom Brady/Chad Penningon out there hitting the open wr, time & time again... OSU hadn't played in 7 1/2 weeks and boy did it show. I wouldn't put much stock in the game last night as draft positioning goes, but one thing is clear, we don't want Jim Tressel as our coach....

they showed up...they were just way overconfident, like most big-10 schools...no match for the SEC.

Chad Pennington is def not in the same class as Tom Brady...Tom Brady, Peyton Manning is more like it

The problem comes if Brohm declares - while it's a no brainer to take him if he's there at 9, the QBs coming out would drop a lot of great talent to us. I haven't seen a mock yet that has the BPA figure out yet. Then again, that's likely due to the Senior Bowl and the combines not being finished yet. Personally, taking a player at any position would improve this team, and I don't mind Everett going into training camp.

it will be tempting to consider drafting another position with # 9 due to the amount of talent "dropping to us"...but, lets not get suckered here.

we need a qb, and if any of the top 3 - quinn, russell, brohm - is there when we pick # 9, we snatch him.

there will be other good players available in rounds 2-4.

from what i have been reading, this draft is shaping up to be pretty deep.

I'm extremely interested to see how many of the Florida underclassmen declare after that game.

I agree wholeheartedly - if one of the top 3 is there, there's no doubt we go for him. We'd be fools not to. Hell, I guarantee we'd get trade offers if one of the 3 were there at 9, and one way or the other if there is one of the 3 available we'll end up for the better no matter what we do (provided we don't pick an eddie f'n moore).

One thing bothered me last night about Ginn. Did anyone notice how at one point after he got "hurt" he was up waving his towel and jumping around trying to pump up the crowd and then a few minutes later he is on crutches hardly moving. I think he cares more about himself and his career in the NFL than he did about his team. If he was able to jump around waving a towel he should have been in there helping his team try and win the BCS game. I wouldn't want someone like that on my team.
