Implications Of The Zach Wilson Signing

1. Correct or not, you don't say that to your fanbase, when your fumbling snaps on a weekly basis and just got done saying "show me the money" on a live microphone.

Hes making 2. 50 million a year, the organization and the fans stood behind him even though he's never healthy, has a weak arm, can't scramble, can't QB sneak, can't extend plays and make throws like 75% of the QBs in the league .... and were supposed to sit down and stuff our faces with potato chips and also accept that "it's hard for him to not fumble snaps while in the shotgun"

3. It was a stupid ass thing to say and showed alot about his character off the field. He thinks the fans are stupid and should shut up no matter how bad he plays.

4. Hes an arrogant dumbass.
Chad:

1. What he said was correct. Truth is truth. Look at the context in which he said it.
2. His salary is on the organization, not him.
3. You are passing judgement on his off-field character? Tua has never had any off the field scandals and contributes to the community.
4. Seriously? Come on! Go look in the mirror. 🤣🤣🤣

Criticize his play all you want. His health issues, average arm, and hasn’t shown a killer instinct. All fair game. But keep it about football!

I still think, what he shoulda said was something like this....

"I understand the fans frustration, we are all frustrated about the snap issues and fumbles, were working hard to get it cleaned up and I'm confident we will do better going forward."

Instead of

"The fans don't understand how difficult taking a snap in shotgun can be, they should just sit on the couch and eat their potato chips and leave the football to me." Paraphasing but that's basicly what he said.

See the difference???

It was not a professional thing to say, I'm not a fan of the guy. I was for 4 years, but that statement and the "show me the money" and then getting hurt again TWICE.

No ill never be a fan of his again.

Zach Wilson is a gamble but our backups last year were basically incompetent. They killed us.

While Zach has talent, he’s literally never played well in the NFL. What’s worse, his makeup and toughness are nil. He’s got happy feet, hasn’t shown it between the ears, and lacks mental acuity. Anyone criticizing him has every justification in the world because all data looks bad. So, anyone making fun of the critics is way off base. It’s valid.

Having said all that, I’m fine with rolling the dice. He’s got upside and hopefully Payton fixed him last year and McCoach can further build him up. It’s intangibles, seeing the field, toughness that need to be built up. Hopefully it can be done. But it’s a leap of faith and pretending otherwise is disingenuous at best.

Chad, I would venture to guess that you have never been the focal point of a press conference (I have). It’s sooo typical of media virgins to criticize.

When you place quotation marks, it’s supposed to be an actual quote, not your “paraphrasing “ opinion. 🤣

Let’s hope Tua plays well, stays healthy and takes us on a deep playoff run or more. We have a promising young backup with skills (Wilson) and I hope we draft a QB in mid-late rounds. If Tua fails, this season, we have a reasonable “out” in 2026.

mac jones to the 49ers, 2 years $7mm. their system is similar to ours. half the price of zach wilson. zach wilson obviously higher ceiling, but if you asked me for next year alone in our system, who would be better positioned to win us games, i would say mac jones. and he is half the price. kyle shanahan is no dummy either

Takeaway #3

They still have huge confidence in Tua when he is on the field, and a huge pass play is needed, so they are finally making a huge push to make sure the O-Line is finally fixed, and Miami (With some good to great talent at RB) will be running far more to keep Tua healthier, the offense more unpredictable, and Miami Defense longer on sidelines.

So because they will be going all in with O-Line, and running game, the backup QB does not have to be as big a superstar passer, just needs to be more mobile, be young, and have enough potential to maybe be coached up to be decent or better if needed...But most important, not very expensive for just a backup.

So far two Oline players signed, and a 3rd interior linemen early will be taken in draft...With more help later in the draft for the line.
